Submitted yesterday. Main points were around meeting children and young people at their actual point of learning, and some suggestions for improving outcomes for those with barriers to learning, including those with SPMLD and those from deprived families.

Dug this fantastic artwork out today, for a session with some initial teacher trainees on Severe and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. Always a privilege to work with her legacy, and reflect on how there are more similarities between children and young people, than there are differences.

Such an inspiring day yesterday, working with our PGCE students before they go off on their SEND placements, which begin today! Best wishes to all of those about to experience practice in SEND departments and special schools!

Selfies of the week! 1/Silent disco for early career researchers at the Manchester Museum and 2/Exploring our new Carnegie School of Education home on the Headingley campus, Leeds.

This week I returned to Oxford Road, Manchester (the street where I was born!) for the 2024 BERA Conf. It's been an inspiring few days of learning, networking, and establishing next steps for developing myself, and the field I research in. Also got to present my paper on 'Topographical Teaching'!

Gearing up to get up very early on a Sunday, to head straight to this year's British Educational Research Association conference, where I will be attending a workshop on publication. Also looking forward to catching up with Leeds Beckett colleagues and presenting my paper on Wednesday
