I was happy Committee supported two additional motions on this issue to explore penalties & incentives for our next bus stop snow clearing contract + improve responsiveness to missed stops. It’s high time we expect the best possible service from our contractors.

Today, I supported learning more about the impacts of data centres in Waterloo Region. In fact, this analysis is already underway. That said, I still have serious concerns about future hyper scale facilities in our community, particularly in light of our current infrastructure constraints.
I was happy to join the Queen’s Green Community Garden Party this weekend and hear about more ways to promote food security & sovereignty across the Region — like having a consistent policy for gardens at Regional housing sites

Today’s dangerously bad air quality does not impact everyone equally. It’s a reminder that as a Region we need to double down on our commitments to decarbonize, ending for-profit natural gas subsidies, commit to constructing more sustainable public buildings, and expanding electric transit options.

Today, I did not support the appeal of Justice Gibson's ruling on the 100 Victoria encampment for many reasons -- we know what we need to do to get on with Transit Hub construction, while also recognizing a place of last resort.
Saturday started with MADD Waterloo Region’s victim memorial — a reminder of the progress made and work ahead to eliminating impaired driving, and then joined community who SHOWED UP for Grand River Pride, and lastly to The Hydrocut Launch Party, which brought visitors from across Ontario!
As we wrap up another vibrant Pride weekend in Waterloo Region, I’m reminded of the importance of continuing to gather, and allowing voices to be heard, openly. The unfortunate actions of one person last week haven’t overshadowed the strength of our community 🏳️🌈
This is an important low cost step we are testing out at different intersections across the Region to improve road safety and make them safer for pedestrians 🔜

Today, Committee received a Report that provided a stark outlook on our Development Charges collection. The current municipal funding framework is broken. And it’s time all communities get a new fiscal framework with the Province and Federal government.

This is great news for Kitchener and the neighbourhoods which these 176 new childcare spaces will serve. The need is great, but projects like this help close the gap.

I’m running to continue serving Kitchener on Regional Council! There’s a lot more work ahead to continue working with you to build a responsive and affordable Kitchener with abundant housing, infrastructure that endures, and transit you can count on.
I am glad that Regional staff have committed to pausing removal of garden beds that are not a structural issue. I had the chance to stop by today to see the impacts of the removals and will continue to advocate for access to vital gardening space.

Important school zone road safety projects are happening this year 🚧 At Sandhills and St. Dominic's PS, intersection improvements along Victoria St. will shorten crossing distances, a new mid-block crossing will add a direct route to school, and a new trail will make it easier to walk and roll!
