The way so many people in LA really hate homeless people is probably the most vile part of the culture here. Lots to love about living here, but this never fails to throw me.

In my old age, I've discovered a newfound love in 90s boy bands. Best by far has to be that song "Summer Girls" by LFO. The lyrics are absolutely nonsense, and every single one is amazing. "There was a good man named Paul Revere I feel much better, baby, when you're near" Incredible.
Lots of Jewish left work gets erased imo cause people are afraid of being associated with it and then marginalized (or they want credit ofc). The very frustrating reality that creates is that some of the most essential voices are never given the opportunity to become as mainstream as they should.

Deploying a study that seems to funnel respondents to a preferred answer and then using that inflated number to claim Jews "overwhelmingly" support adopting a heavily disputed definition of antisemitism is a flawed approach at best and potentially damaging to the actual fight against antisemitism.

The technology to solve climate change exists. The tech to make AI less destructive exists. The ability to make it helpful as opposed to eating up our jobs exists. The ability to have us work less due to tech exists. The issue is and always was govt policies and ultra-capitalism.
Part of the reason the influential men on the right want people to focus on trans folks is so they can distract from their own histories of rape and sexual abuse. Creating a paranoia about a group of people "grooming" children certainly makes it harder to get people to focus on these men.

the "mossad did it" stuff is such a cop-out. it lets people sidestep the male privilege and rich-guy networks that enabled epstein for years. and it derails the conversation from the actual crimes these dudes committed—and the accountability they still owe their victims.

Alejandra Caraballo@esqueer.net · 3w agoJK Rowling through her TERF organization, Beira's Place have sent Amnesty International a demand letter seeking a full retraction of their report, a public apology, and a bar to future criticism of gender critical groups as anti rights orgs. If they don't comply, they'll commence legal action.
Until people understand these are MODERATE positions when you're in a country transforming into a fascist dictatorship, one that was already built on slavery and apartheid, we won't actually go as far as we need to in order to end this. The change we need is massive, and these are just first steps.

In that, they have a lot in common with trans folks. The Dems gave essentially written off people living in red states.
It is really wild how much Black causes have been completely abandoned or lowered in priority by many Dems and many people, from moderates to progressives to the left. As we enter fascism, we can’t keep our eyes off the core of how we got here. Not to mention simply not abandoning Black people.

And then there’s this. Really does feel like we’re living a parody.
The interview with the consultants who recruited Platner is wiiiiild. Really feels like a parody. And imo a revealing indictment of the supporters who are still standing with Platner. Buying into a shallow aesthetic of populism at the cost of all else. These are the kind of people they trust.
Centrism is a bulwark against progress which is the opposite of white supremacy. @eladn.bsky.social ties moderatism to the zero-sum-ness of that.
