The way so many people in LA really hate homeless people is probably the most vile part of the culture here. Lots to love about living here, but this never fails to throw me.

In my old age, I've discovered a newfound love in 90s boy bands. Best by far has to be that song "Summer Girls" by LFO. The lyrics are absolutely nonsense, and every single one is amazing. "There was a good man named Paul Revere I feel much better, baby, when you're near" Incredible.
Lots of Jewish left work gets erased imo cause people are afraid of being associated with it and then marginalized (or they want credit ofc). The very frustrating reality that creates is that some of the most essential voices are never given the opportunity to become as mainstream as they should.
...how do you write this with no mention of DropTheADL.org? Liberated Ethnic Studies? ADC? Pal Legal? @jewishcurrents.bsky.social's own reporting? SO MUCH grassroots work has traced & resisted the right-wing projects of major Jewish orgs. It's the context that makes Beinart's writing possible.
New episode of Here We Come is out, this time featuring @marisakabas.bsky.social. About how in the age of fascism, journalism is failing us... and saving us. The people on the top are failing, but the ones on the ground are doing epic work. Few exemplify that more than Marisa.

I usually keep my pettiness in check. But I do wonder if the boys at @mostmoralpod.bsky.social are having second thoughts after recording a whole episode the other month, slamming me & others for naming Susan’s antisemitism. These 3 posts are just from the last few days—
🧵 Suggesting that Mayor Mamdani's positions on Israeli government actions stem from a deep-seated hatred of Jews is unfounded, inflammatory, and divisive. 1/3
Director of Marketing at a company describes how the entire marketing team has been replaced by AI. He is the only person left of a 12 person team. This is INSANE.
Every now and then I think that we're lucky to live in LA as much of the country deals with smoke etc, then I remember a quarter of our city burned down a year ago.
Deploying a study that seems to funnel respondents to a preferred answer and then using that inflated number to claim Jews "overwhelmingly" support adopting a heavily disputed definition of antisemitism is a flawed approach at best and potentially damaging to the actual fight against antisemitism.

The technology to solve climate change exists. The tech to make AI less destructive exists. The ability to make it helpful as opposed to eating up our jobs exists. The ability to have us work less due to tech exists. The issue is and always was govt policies and ultra-capitalism.
Part of the reason the influential men on the right want people to focus on trans folks is so they can distract from their own histories of rape and sexual abuse. Creating a paranoia about a group of people "grooming" children certainly makes it harder to get people to focus on these men.
No, this really really really is rape
the "mossad did it" stuff is such a cop-out. it lets people sidestep the male privilege and rich-guy networks that enabled epstein for years. and it derails the conversation from the actual crimes these dudes committed—and the accountability they still owe their victims.
Rogan: "Most people think Epstein was Mossad." Vance: "Ya." This theory has been pushed by Holocaust deniers, neo-Nazis, and Iranian state media. Conspiracy theorists on social media are already sharing the quote as proof that the White House is with them and validating their claims.

Amazing that she then can get away with continuing to frame this as the powerful trans people/allies against the weak and meek "feminists" and billionaires.
JK Rowling through her TERF organization, Beira's Place have sent Amnesty International a demand letter seeking a full retraction of their report, a public apology, and a bar to future criticism of gender critical groups as anti rights orgs. If they don't comply, they'll commence legal action.
Until people understand these are MODERATE positions when you're in a country transforming into a fascist dictatorship, one that was already built on slavery and apartheid, we won't actually go as far as we need to in order to end this. The change we need is massive, and these are just first steps.
it’s hard to explain how much shit like this has radicalized people. like i’m a white middle-aged broad who’s always been liberal but i’ve gone full-on “abolish ICE/reform scotus/the next dem candidate must commit to mass prosecutions” and you will not sway me from that position.
This should be setting off alarm bells in the Jewish world as well as all those fighting fascism. Republicans are targeting a progressive Jewish nonprofit, hoping to strip it of nonprofit status. This was laid out in the Esther Project, an extension of Project 2025 by the Heritage Foundation.

In that, they have a lot in common with trans folks. The Dems gave essentially written off people living in red states.
It is really wild how much Black causes have been completely abandoned or lowered in priority by many Dems and many people, from moderates to progressives to the left. As we enter fascism, we can’t keep our eyes off the core of how we got here. Not to mention simply not abandoning Black people.
“Black lawmakers and activists across the Deep South argue they have been abandoned by the Democratic Party to fight an existential crisis on their own. They say they’ve been let down by nearly all corners of the party.” Essential read:

Hmmmmmm could there maybe be a connection between antisemitism and misogyny 🤔
note the author. the horrible parody rolls on bsky.app/profile/kimk...
just found out that a certain “labor reporter” with a decades-long history of violently harassing women and queer people in the labor movement (myself included) is lurking around on here. If you care about workers and Mike Elk follows you, do us all a favor and block him.
And then there’s this. Really does feel like we’re living a parody.
The interview with the consultants who recruited Platner is wiiiiild. Really feels like a parody. And imo a revealing indictment of the supporters who are still standing with Platner. Buying into a shallow aesthetic of populism at the cost of all else. These are the kind of people they trust.
Centrism is a bulwark against progress which is the opposite of white supremacy. @eladn.bsky.social ties moderatism to the zero-sum-ness of that.
When you live in a country where some are oppressed, you have the functions and ideology of fascism. It can and will expand. Unless you completely remove it through building a structure of total freedom. New piece:
