Seen a few folks astonished by my lack of support for ChatGPT and similar. Because AI, right? Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.

Anyone else working in "AI" have a serious disconnect when reading scifi/fantasy these days where they talk about actually useful/intelligent AIs? I have to do a double take anytime a character just assumes that an AI will do a novel task well.

Does anyone know if ASR models with transformer/conformer architectures (i.e. Whisper) struggle more with producing faithful transcripts for languages with scrambling since they aren't as time linear dependent? Like does Russian scrambling get undone by Whisper in favor of more common word orders?

Watching One Piece for the first time and I'm just... very confused as to why people like this and what the point of this is? This should be comparable to Naruto and Bleach, right? But it just feels so much more lacking. Like what's the point of the story? (tbf I'm on episode 2 right now)
