Labour MP for Luton North 🌹 | Promoted by and on behalf of Sarah Owen at 3 Union Street, Luton, LU1 3AN.
It is deeply irresponsible for any politician, let alone a senior Conservative, to peddle the same far-right nonsense about Luton that we see from the likes of Yaxley Lennon and Reform.

Great parks make a world of difference to our green spaces, a place to have fun for all ages. It was great to drop in on Leagrave Park ahead of its opening and see it take shape. I've fought to get more money into parks, and this is the difference a Labour government makes 🛝🌹
Would not want to melt Braverman’s brain further but just throwing us mixed race/heritage folk into the mix…👋
Suella Braverman suggests on #BBCQT that you can't be English unless you are white, and have a lineage or heritage going back some generations
Nah, there is no lightening up about rape. I am so glad to be part of a government that takes tackling violence against women & girls seriously. And protecting the right for victims of sexual offences to lifelong anonymity in the press and public.
This is called being facetious and "joking" because everyone is not required to be so goddamn morose about this subject 24/7. Lighten up bitch
What a speech from Andy Burnham. He's right - politics as normal isn't working for people in Luton North and across the country. We need change.
This morning I went to the Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Black Swan Pub today, organised by the lovely Dee, Susie and Patrice. It was a fantastic morning with a brilliant turnout! Lots of tea, coffee, homemade cakes and sausage rolls 😋☕️🍰
Getting the steps in the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. I really hope Sagal gets to be the next MP for a part of London she’s grown up in and serves as a Cllr. 🌹
It was great to chat to the wonderful people at Att10tive Social Enterprise about getting more young people engaged in politics, now the voting age is being lowered. Have a listen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bH9...

This change in law matters to Luton North. It matters for the 1 in 4/5 pregnancies that end in loss. From April next year, women and their partners who experience a pregnancy loss before 24 weeks will be entitled to two weeks of bereavement leave.
Today, the government has announced it is bringing in statutory bereavement leave for pre-24 week pregnancy loss from next April. This will make a huge difference to women and their partners who experience the pain of losing a pregnancy - and finally recognise it as the bereavement that it is.
Being arrested for suspicion of assault and controlling or coercive behaviours, is apparently just a “bump in the road” and “personal difficulties” according to Farage. Reform have zero credibility on support for victims’ and tackling VAWG.

Six months on from this speech, today the Prime Minister has announced the introduction of specialist rape and sexual offence courts in every Crown Court. I can't tell you how much this change means, nor the difference these measures would have made for me and so many survivors I've worked with.
🚨 WATCH: Labour MP Charlotte Nichols reveals she was raped as an MP as she opposes the jury trial reforms "I waited 1,088 days to go to court. We've been told [by the Government] that if we have concerns about this Bill, it's because we've not been raped"

I hope the RNLI see an even bigger increase in donations after this. Far right thuggery should not be tolerated.

As rail companies come back into public control, the Labour govt is getting rid of nonsensical rules that prevented passengers from using other train companies during disruption. This will make it easier for everyone to get around without having to pay for another ticket. Starting this weekend! 🚄
Congratulations to Liv! I know she will do a great job taking on one of the best select committees there are, and taking on issues that matter to us all.

🇵🇸 The situation in Palestine is a moral emergency. Today, the government announced a ban on trade with illegal settlements, a new sanctions regime against settlers, and a "double lock" arms sales ban on arms being used in the West Bank and Gaza.
🎂 Happy 60th Anniversary to Luton Sixth Form College! The college has been part of the lives of so many Lutonians over the last 60 years. Post-16 education and skills are a key part of my agenda for Luton North, and it’s always a pleasure to partner with Altaf and everybody at the sixth form.
🎆 Andy Burnham - there "is a case for going further" on fireworks regulation 🎆 The PM is right - we need a better approach to anti-social behaviour, especially fireworks. Great to hear him say that there is a case for better fireworks laws.
Disabilities don't abide by working hours - and neither should disabled people's ability to get around town 🚍 That's why this Labour government is making bus travel free for people with disabilities, 24/7.
Thoughts and prayers for any parents realising tmw is NOT the first day of back to school and is indeed an inset day instead
Leasehold is blighting lives. Leasehold is an anachronism in the twenty-first century. This Labour government is going to do what’s necessary, by the end of this Parliament, to dismantle it and emancipate leaseholders across the country👇🏻 www.gov.uk/government/s...

Ashcroft Play Park is open! 🛝 Thanks to hard work from local residents, we've secured a much-needed facelift to Ashcroft Park in Stopsley. A child said it was “the best play park” she’s been to. I think the double zip lines, the accessible trampoline and monkey bars were absolute hits!
I’ve heard from residents across Luton North who’ve been affected by cowboy builders. This govt is introducing: ✅ A new Trading Standards approved code to help you identify and hire traders with confidence. ✅ A trusted place your money can be held, until key milestones are completed.
We had a really productive time in Derry/Londonderry. 3 years ago I got married in the beautiful Guildhall behind me and Chris there. So it was wonderful to be back in a more formal capacity and to meet with fab groups from the North West about the challenges ahead.
As back to school preparations start, this is a Small Business Saturday staple for families. JS School & Sportswear on Neville Road stock every school uniform across Luton. From book bags to blazers, they have it all. It was lovely to see some eco friendly wear by supporting tree planting schemes.
