Go volunteer for a progressive launching a “hopeless” campaign against an extremely entrenched incumbent currently squatting in a safe Blue seat. The worst thing that happens, is that you drag the incumbent to the Left. Best case? Zohran Mamdani, who was polling at 6% in January.

Interesting, but I don't see how the fact that the "friends-only feed" opening is going to be filled by Sora? Like, my actual friends definitely aren't all terminally online, creating AI videos? That seems like a relatively small part of the population when it comes right down to it?

And I know that there are edge cases, and hard to parse things, and I don't want, say, a generic conservative to not feel like they can use @sunslider.bsky.social, they totally can. But that doesn't mean we have to accept everything, and certainly not speech/actions that directly harm others.

I've called this becoming the "Patagonia of social networks". It's a "Don't use this app" ethos, where I NEVER want you to be hanging out on @sunslider.bsky.social for hours on end. I want you to come on for 5-10 minutes, share, catch up with friends, and then go back to living.

And it's not half-bad for a v1.1! I was talking to a user the other day and she put why she liked it pretty simply: - it's not Google/Meta/Amazon/etc. - it's easy: you post what you want, choose who can see it, and that's it - it's clean: no ads, no influencers, no impossible-to-understand settings.
