Making for the fun of it, niching up and out. TTRPGs, software development, whatever else my brain is stuck on right now 🏳️‍🌈 he/him Current Project: 📕 Waywright, an Etherscout Handbook etherscouts.com

I'm so far removed from D&D being my #TTRPG of choice that I still have no idea what's in this new WoW setting. It will be cool to flip through, I'm sure, but I can't remember the last time I played.

Gotta say, so far just shy of the second badge (of 18 total gyms, plus an Elite 8) Pokemon Rejuvenation is a lot of fun. Tons of fun Pokemon to catch, a storyline that's a bit more adult, and pretty challenging gameplay. Most Pokemon games you sort of breeze through the first gym, not so here

Welp, we've now watched seasons 7 and 8 of Love Island USA, and just started 6. 7 felt like a bit of a slog where 8 was more fun, so I'm hoping this one feels a bit less heavy

It feels really nice to be enjoying book design again. The whole visual language for Waywright is finally coming together. I can't wait to share this book when it's finished.

I've had "Starlight Sickness" by Helico Tele stuck in my head all day, and created a modified version of the classic "Hello, Dolly!" plugin for Wordpress. Pops a random lyric from the song onto the admin panel every time I change pages

With the updates to the Graycastle Press core theme done, made some progress on the new version of the Etherscouts website. The registration card all done in #CSS (with custom validation on the Scout ID format in the back end) is maybe one of my favorite #webdesign pieces I've ever made.

Made a lot of progress with the new Graycastle Press website redesign, and really happy with how it turned out. Much simpler design, far fewer plugins and other things in the background. Still have some pages and all of the blog to go through to fix the styling on, but happy so far!

I'm so tired of the bloat that Wordpress plugins carry, so I'm challenging myself to do as much as I can with the redesign of the Graycastle Press website without using any of them. So far so good, and this core theme can get re-used with child themes across my few other websites pretty easily

I dumped my email marketing tool subscription last week after the cost jumped from $12/mo to $33/mo (!!), and honestly much happier with my self-hosted solution. Rather than paying monthly for a service I use infrequently, I just pay for emails sent via Amazon's SES. Saved ~$400 a year!

Really happy with how the design for the Waywright Badge has turned out! Each Etherscout Handbook has a digital badge that you can earn by completing the game, and these are going to look great when I can eventually get them produced as physical patches. Making good progress on this game!

I also learned that the name for this is an aptronym, “…a personal name aptly or peculiarly suited to its owner.” Other notable examples are meteorologist Sara Blizzard, chili pepper breeder Ed Currie, and American millionaire megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar.

The fact that Tito’s Vodka was founded by a man named “Tito Beveridge” is one of my favorite things I’ve learned this week

I’m watching Love Island for the first time, and this show is WILD. Like, WHAT. Also from a game design perspective, they really don’t hold your hand at all. I have no idea how this is a competition someone can win. They’re all making out a lot. WHAT.

Took about 25 days, but just completed my re-read of books 1 through 7 of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series Finally ready to start “A Parade of Horribles!”

I’ll never forget when I was a student representative in like third grade and, when asked aye or nay on whether we wanted to spend money on new basketball hoop nets, I NEIGHED LIKE A HORSE for the lolz. And then no one laughed and I was asked to justify my dissent. Which, for the record, I did.
