John Blanche communicated 40k's phantasmagoria of superstition, violence, waste, and authoritarianism. Gorgeous art of a universe that warps to uplift its most fevered inhabitants. Our very own Bosch or Bruegel.

A trio of sneering, disfigured, and masked underhive gangers stand in echelon brandishing weapons. Text at the base reads "Only the insane have strength enough to prosper. Only those who prosper may truly judge what is sane."A sneering elderly inquisitor poses in portrait. His head is shaved and a tiny open book is tied to his forehead. He is wearing spectables and power armour lavishly decorated with lions and skulls. He holds a boltgun -- an ugly, uncomfortable, and boxy weapon that looks like it was built in a shed.A null maiden -- a scarred and statuesque woman dressed head to toe in skintight red leather embellished with studs. She is holding a drooling flamethrower and standing contrapposto against what looks like a giant club.the God Emperor of mankind in his golden throne. A leering, skeletal figure surrounded by malevolent spirits and howling abased pilgrims.

I find it funny how the UK became everything they accused Sweden of being ever since leaving the EU, but also found ways of being even worse, all while Sweden itself started to clean up it's act.

We’re all in a state of shock here today, as we struggle to take in the news of the death of John Blanche. We were so thrilled and proud that he was able to contribute some new art for Trench Crusade. We shall miss him terribly, but he will live on in his irreplaceable art, and in everything we do.

PSA: Bluesky's new auto-tagging moderation stuff is a disaster. Disable it. Go into Settings on the Bluesky site and enable adult content and set everything to Warn at most, which makes posts opt-in. Hide just vanishes posts. Then go into Advanced/Bluesky Mod Service and do the same on everything.
