Sorry to read that the London Gate Theatre is closing. A few years ago, I wrote a little (in "Flann O'Brien: Acting Out") about its inaugural April 1979 production of "At Swim-Two-Birds", directed by founder Lou Stein, & its importance to Flann O'Brien's theatrical revival on the 1980s London stage.
If I dwell on those early years it was because the Gate, particularly during the mean and insular Thatcherite 80s, was proving that there was a world elsewhere and that it was possible to create infinite riches in a little room. apple.news/AmkmLoKzGQAq...
