Irish Times journalist and videographer. Author and editor of several books including Seán Lemass: The Lost Memoir (March 2026)

Highly recommended read on a Taoiseach that few of us around today have any adult memories of but arguably both the father of modern, outward looking Ireland and the architect of what genuine reconciliation on the island actually looks like…

Seán Lemass: The Lost Memoir is coming out next month. It's the story of a transformational Taoiseach in his own words. It was assumed that Lemass had not left his own account of his extraordinary political career for posterity, but he had.

We were delighted to welcome author & journalist Ronan McGreevy to the JJ Library last Thurs to discuss his new book 'Seán Lemass: The Lost Memoir'. The book draws from a series of interviews with Lemass conducted by businessman & hotelier Dermot A. Ryan, which are preserved @ucdarchives.bsky.social

My piece in The Irish Times on the Mother and Child scheme 75 years on. It was more than a battle between Church and State. It was really about the medical profession shafting the people of Ireland for its own selfish ends and we are still paying the price today www.irishtimes.com/history/2026...

Why the failure of Noël Browne’s mother and child scheme still matters 75 years later

Proposals for free, universal healthcare were successfully blocked by the medical profession with support from the Catholic Church

Delighted to announce my new book Seán Lemass: The Lost Memoir edited by me. Lemass, Ireland's most popular Taoiseach, left no autobiography or papers, but he recorded 22 hours of interviews with a businessman called Dermot Ryan in the 1960s. They are an extraordinary political testimony.

As a country we are great at remembering those who died for Ireland. They have streets, train stations, GAA grounds, etc named after them. We are lousy at remembering those who lived for Ireland. Of course, Dublin Airport should be named after Seán Lemass. www.irishtimes.com/politics/202...
