🔬🌱 SPECIAL ISSUE EXPERT VIEW 🌱🔬 Auroux et al. synthesize recent breakthroughs in seed biology enabled by cutting-edge omics technologies, revealing molecular mechanisms controlling seed development, dormancy, and germination, with implications for developing climate-resilient crops.

Epigenomics approaches detect transcription factor (TF) binding and chromatin modifications including methylation (Me), acetylation (Ac), and phosphorylation (P), using High-throughput Chromosome Conformation Capture (Hi-C) to map three-dimensional genome architecture, Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin using sequencing (ATAC-seq) at the bulk and single-nucleus resolution (single-nucleus ATAC-seq, snATAC-seq) to profile chromatin accessibility, and Chromatin Immunoprecipitation sequencing/Cleavage Under Targets and Tagmentation (ChIP-seq/CUT&Tag) for mapping protein-DNA interactions and histone modifications.
