A group of cross-party UK parliamentarians working together to tackle climate change

Yesterday, alongside the APPG on Warm Homes, we held a parliamentary drop-in event on the impact of the energy crisis on consumers. We spoke about: 💡Immediate advice and support available to help with high energy bills 📃Short term policy gaps ☀️Long term solutions to protect households

Parliament has wrapped up for summer recess after a bumper year for UK climate politics. The Climate APPG has been at the heart of efforts to protect and build cross-party ambition. Here’s a look back at just some of what we’ve achieved over the past year 🧵👇

Yesterday I challenged the climate denial and delay from the Conservatives and Reform UK. Calling science 'garbage' and net zero 'impossible' isn’t just wrong — it’s dangerous. Only Labour has a credible plan to tackle the crisis and create tens of thousands of good green jobs. 🌍⚡️

"The shift away from fossil fuels to clean energy is now an economic inevitability which is backed by business." This week the Climate APPG was pleased to host leading business representatives and investors to discuss the economic case for the UK's clean energy transition.

At current levels of CO2 emissions, we will break the 1.5°C warming limit in just 3 years - the crucial threshold to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. The climate crisis is already here and hitting hardest on the most vulnerable. We must act now to cut emissions and protect our future.

Grateful to the Climate APPG and MPs from all parties for the discussion on the future of energy in the North Sea. We are determined to get the transition right and ensure the next chapter in the North Sea's energy story delivers for workers and communities across the country.

Yesterday we were delighted to host @michaelshanksmp.co.uk for a cross-party roundtable on the government's plans for the future of the North Sea. As North Sea oil and gas reserves decline, it is vital that the transition to clean energy delivers for workers, communities and the climate.

New report by @ucl.ac.uk issues a stark & unambiguous warning: opening new North Sea oil & gas fields is fundamentally incompatible with 1.5°C. To align with climate obligations, researchers urge the UK Government to reject the Rosebank & Jackdaw oil fields. scienmag.com/new-oil-and-...

Today we launch the ‘Goals for a Fair Energy Transition’. The need for the government to manage the UK’s transition away from oil + gas production to renewable energy is now urgent. The transition can only be deemed successful if workers’ futures are secure.

The position of Reform & the Conservatives is not to try & insulate ourselves from insecurity & reliance on Russia by rapidly growing our home-grown clean energy, but to instead bury ourselves in Putin’s warm embrace Both unpopular and dangerous 👇 www.politicshome.com/opinion/arti...
