I could barely make it through one single episode of The Newsroom but I stand by Studio 60! I was INVESTED in the central foursome and their romantic entanglements. I genuinely loved it at the time and have been constantly shamed for it since. I'm sure it hasn't aged well, like all Sorkin.

Aaron Sorkin's infamous Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip debuted 20 years ago this fall. I talked with a group of contemporary comedy writers about why the show didn't work, but also why they're still obsessed with it:

Because I had seen both Eva Marie Saint and Tippi Hedren do a lot of public events (TCM etc), I knew they were both still with us (until yesterday of course). To my shame, I didn't realize that Kim Novak is still alive! I'm glad that both Tippi and Kim are still with us.

Hey horror friends, I hope you’ll give me a few minutes for a non-horror-related good cause. In my other life I’m a playwright, and I founded Desert Playwrights’ Retreat, a fully-funded all-expenses-paid writing retreat for LGBTQ playwrights. We fly writers in from all over the country… 1/

There's always debate about book vs films of course. But I'm reading A Room with a View, and I have to say that the description of one of the most iconic, cinematic kisses of all time is very disappointing: "He stepped quickly forward and kissed her" is what Forster writes.
