If you’re a guy talking to trans people about how they need to be more loyal to a party that is throwing them to the wolves I need you to immediately explain to all other marginalized people why that is

sorry to Marvel post but my god I'd forgotten how good Agatha All Along is. whole show starts with a pitch perfect satire of a prestige detective series and it's one of the least notable things about it
this is your regular reminder that when you see unemployment statistics, freelancers, contractors, and gig workers who do limited amounts of work for a base pay with no benefits and no guarantee they'll still have work to do a year from now, are considered "employed"
Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg
the way seeing Diane Morgan in Vision Quest hits like a fucking mack truck
"crazier even than Hot Wheels" you are 55 years old
sentient
in case it was not already clear why the ellisons want to own and control all media
Larry Ellison’s TikTok has shut down the promotional account for Alex Gibney’s Elon Musk documentary. www.theverge.com/tech/1013453...
sorry but no time for any discourse today I am busy fighting the important fight on discord
found an NYC Teamster whose tiktoks are just skate tricks he dedicates to other unions.
Saw a YouTube thumbnail about You Can See Everything that had a wider shot of the “why would I deceive” you scene showing the lighting and camera operators with the caption “it’s all staged!” And it really cracked me up
I don't know how precisely to articulate this but...there is a level to which people are simply LARPing stuff, and I feel like we could solve a lot of problems and make other problems easier to deal with if we could simply switch off the LARP and deal with things as they are
its not even 10 and I need a stiff drink
there is no context in which this isn't Activision's own fault new CoD games come out every year. it's become noise. GTA6 gets wall-to-wall coverage because the last time a game came out in this series, Obama was President
Activision believes there’s a “Call of Duty tax” on the way the series is covered by games media these days, according to an executive. vgc.news/news/the-cal...
I am really not trying to be an asshole here, but can someone please explain to me the rationale behind copying an AP headline, tagging the account that made it, but not including a link to the source or even source post? you have space here, you could quote post, etc. why obfuscate?
WASHINGTON (AP) - Trump, after bipartisan backlash, says Pentagon won't livestream firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter. @apnews.com
set aside for a moment the extremely dumb "video games are for kids" argument imo it should be automatically disqualifying for any governing official to not have a base level understanding of video games, if for no other reason than they are the test bed for manipulating people's behavior
"Put aside childish things" What you mean like caring about what's considered childish? What are you, a highschooler? Because you look way older, tho not as old as video games, stupidly enough. @michael-feinberg.bsky.social bsky.app/profile/mich...
I'm glad someone else spotted this. I saw the quoted video earlier and it was setting off some alarm bells but I didn't have the time to dive into it but tl;dr, "I reverse engineered an app and found all its evil secrets" is a suspicious as hell claim if you can't show your work, and guy does not
I'm sorry, an AI guy telling you "The wool is being pulled over your eyes" while simultaneously owning a huge ass yarn factory will never not be funny. You're literally part of the problem my guy.
let's assume this is true (it is not, "they can suffer" is a dubious and load-bearing claim, for ex.) the only rational, moral conclusion to come to from the premise "we have created conscious machines" is immediately cease using them for any task in service of humans which would render them inert
LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.
something that fascinates me about this is how, for many years, whole teams inside giant tech companies were devoted to preventing exactly this scenario you didn't 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 most of your traffic to be from bots trying to game the system, so people worked hard to prevent it
the "agentic" vision of computing is a spam world where everyone has their own personal army of spam bots working 24/7 on their behalf choking everything with spam to try and get one over on the next guy. and that's just not something that can really... exist, long term?
I really don't think folks who weren't there grasp just how much these generations really were shamed or even prosecuted for stuff that giant companies do all the time now like ffs, websites used to shame people for 𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 images without paying the site that hosted it for their bandwidth!
Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.
god bless 404 for calling out this news coverage it's bad enough that men are out here finding new and innovative ways to harass women but supposedly reputable news outlets shouldn't be indulging in some anthropomorphizing robot kayfabe
Men find yet another way to film and harass women without consent, this time, using a remote controlled robot to push against a "16-year-old girl's buttocks", and this is how the most well-resourced news agencies cover it: Read *our* piece here: www.404media.co/theres-nothi...
this thread is exceptionally reasonable 4chan was similarly, at least for a while, important and influential in a way that deserved to be (and was) monitored and documented that didn't mean everybody needed to, like, hang out there, frying their brains
my hot take is that x is in fact still important for anyone following international affairs. but given how noticeably and publicly brains get pickled from x-immersion, i think anyone with a medical history of being a dope (for example, crypto-optimism) should practice self care and abstain
got this rad pro-Talarico mailer, finally Dems are going on the offensive and standing up for their deeply held convictions that they have
look man, you can tell me that AI coding is a professional technique that's here to stay and all the serious guys do it or you can say "wahhh it's too hard, we used the turn-your-brain-off box instead" but it can't be both
points for being honest at least
That this bot, which posts random stills and clips from the thousands of hours of VHS transfers on archive.org, landed on *this specific frame* feels like finding the monkey at the typewriter that managed to write Hamlet.
Funland (VHS) : 4143s
genuinely think Mark Zuckerberg's run as a prominent billionaire should be studied for centuries what do you mean one guy who can't be fired committed $100-200B to AI infrastructure and his plan to make it back is a Labubu that doxxes you?
I want to be explicit that Mark Zuckerberg, on the softest of softball podcasts, admitted he invested all this capex without really knowing whether any of it would work, shortly after his tech guy said that he had been repeatedly told “hey this better fucking work” by the CFO at an offsite
every time you see a company like google boasting about its AI users, remember they're counting people like me, who simply has the same google storage add-on ive had for 15 years, only they changed its name to add "AI"
