This is a betrayal of the people of Galway by this government. The Minister for Health must urgently make good on previous commitments and deliver an elective-only hospital for Galway, not a slightly enlarged hub.

Post nicht verfügbar.

Absolutely scandalous that the government appears to be rowing back on committments to an elective hospital in Merlin Park. Here in Galway we have some of the longest wait lists in the country for elective procedures. These facilities are not an optional add on, they provide vital care.

"If CSAM isn’t a red line that can never be crossed, then one wonders what else ever could be." - Conor O'Mahony, Professor, Child Law expert, former Special Rapporteur on Child Protection to the Government of Ireland.

I write in today's @irishexaminer.bsky.social about the laws that are broken when online AI platforms facilitate the production of child sex abuse material. No new laws are needed. Companies (and their executives) are accountable as well as users. www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

"It's not necessarily the app that's making the images... it's people using the app that's making the images. Making images of that sort is reprehensible..." No, people are asking the app to make the images. IT'S A FEATURE. Not a bug.

I know it’s not the same. But Simon Harris gave several interviews over the Christmas where he spoke about the impact online abuse has had on him and his family. We have Jim O’Callaghan looking for digital i.d’s. So to see this CSAM obfuscation is pretty informative and infuriating.

My word. (Again.) Media Minister Patrick O'Donovan: "At the end of the day, it's the choice of a person to make these images... technology is moving so fast... even if the law is changed there's no doubt about... the advances are far faster than law is able to respond..."
