Good grief! Two absolute howlers on @itvnews.bsky.social report on the memorandum of understanding. 1. The North of Ireland characterised as one of ‘Britain’s’ devolved nations. 2. Apparently the SNP lost its majority in May. Amateurish errors that should have been weeded out. They don’t care!

My latest blog piece, with Burnham's admission at PMQs that the trigger for a Scottish independence referendum should ber the same as the agreed process for a border poll in Northern Ireland, the independence cat is well and truly out of the bag. weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/09/10/t...

The independence cat is out of the bag

Speaking to The National this week after Andy Burnham – perhaps inadvertently – set out the conditions for Scotland to hold an independence referendum, polling expert Professor John Cur…

Does nobody else find it odd that this poll is weighted based on a democratic event of nearly 12 years ago, yet not weighted based on a demographic event of three weeks ago? The lack of academic curiosity around poll weighting genuinely puzzles me 🤔

My latest blog piece: BBC Scotland's educational F grade. In its rush to present another SNPbad/ScotGov is failing story, BBC Scotland is failing its viewers & listeners by omitting vital information about the Pisa rankings on which it has based its story. weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/09/08/b...

BBC Scotland’s educational F grade

BBC Scotland’s latest ‘Scotland is shite’ story is to tell us that Scottish educational performance has fallen behind that of England. This finding is based on Pisa rankings. Howe…

Typical complain-a-thon on Radio Hootsland. This time they’re complaining about the Scottish Government’s £2 bus fare cap. Cue a lady from Aberdeen whose husband once missed a bus. It’s fast becoming a joke of a radio station.

The world is 700% richer than in 1970 but the average person is only 8% richer. Because the richest 0.01% are 4000% richer. We are all being robbed every second of every day, and it doesn't matter how much profit or growth there is. It will never reach you.

Labour's promises of a more left wing agenda evaporate. For most of Burnham's time as PM, the Commons has been in recess. It reopens on Monday and already the right wing U turns are piling up thick and fast. Meet the new boss - you know the rest. weegingerdug.wordpress.com/2026/08/27/m...

Meet the new boss, you know the rest

As sure as night follows day or the Labour branch office in Scotland is unwilling to learn from its repeated electoral kickings, the Labour party at Westminster is equally unwilling to change, retr…

"Andy Burnham has dropped his support for capping political donations". Just like Starmer before him, he promises so much to gain the party leadership (and position of PM as a result) but immediately u-turns when he's successful. Who in Labour still has principles?

So the ultra-rich will continue to own our politics, and our country. Disappointing to say the least. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Our rapid disillusionment with political leaders is treated by much of the media as some kind of pathology. But what I see is these leaders backtracking on their promises, dashing people's hopes and serving the ultra-rich ahead of the rest of the population. Why wouldn't we be disillusioned?

British "democracy" is an empty husk, hollowed out by a grossly unrepresentative voting system and mega-donors who have captured the political class. Now in power, Burnham has scrapped a commitment to electoral reform and is ditching a pledge to cap political donations. 🤔

Labour promised to lower your energy bills, but it was just confirmed they are rising again - for the seventh time under this UK Labour government. Enough is enough. It’s Scotland’s energy, and it’s time to put it into Scotland’s hands.
