sign in a north minneapolis yard reads “SAVE OUR SCHOOLS!” opposing the minneapolis public school district’s transformation plan which would see up to 16 schools closed

Our Statement on the Resolution to Delay the “Transformation Plan”
Try to push through a monumentally bad plan to close a fourth of the schools throughout the district? Prepare to deal with the ire of the Mom Brigade! ✊🏽✊🏽✨ Could not find better folks beside me in this fight. @beccaforschools.bsky.social @christin-with-mpls.bsky.social
I am so looking forward to partnering with CM Whiting toward our shared goal of thriving Minneapolis Public Schools! CM Whiting has shown his dedication toward our public school students through his role as Washburn coach, and he has already been showing up for our public schools in meaningful ways.
Thanks to everyone who showed up and showed out at the protest at South to end MPS school closures last night! ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 This community has only gotten stronger, our tactics more effective after the ICE invasion. @mfelocal59.bsky.social @beccaforschools.bsky.social @christin-with-mpls.bsky.social
Nokomis Area neighbors- come out *this Wednesday October 7th* to join neighbors for an open house. Learn more about the MPS Transformation Plan & how to get involved to have your voice heard on the future of our school district!
This November, you’ll be asked to vote for candidates running for the most important elected body responsible for the future success of Minneapolis’ children: the Minneapolis School Board. It’s time to meet the candidates! Join us October 27. Register here: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
This is a major decision that will affect kids, families, and educators across our city. MPS should slow down, hear from more families and educators, and delay the vote so we can get this right.
I’m a proud Minneapolis Public Schools alum and parent. After talking with MPS families, I’m deeply concerned about the district’s current plan to close 14 or more schools.
The MFE rally to Stop the Transformation Plan was wet, but it was packed with people power and resolve! ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽 Can’t wait to get to work with @beccaforschools.bsky.social @christin-with-mpls.bsky.social on the MPS school board to build a more sustainable MPS that is accountable to community.
Yesterday I attended a community feedback session hosted by MPS Leadership. The dissent in the room was overwhelming. Clearly our community does not support this “Transformation Plan!”
Would love to see you there!

Yesterday I was proud to stand with @mfelocal59.bsky.social in support of our public schools! The speeches from our MPS community about why their schools are so foundational to their community were moving and emotional. Particularly the remarks from Wellstone and Longfellow students struck me.
It is an honor to be endorsed by labor partners like LiUNA! Our schools affect everyone in our community and solidarity with our workers helps build the strongest community possible!
Last Thursday we attended a Community Open House to hear from community how they were processing this MPS "Transformation Plan." Thank you to the Longfellow Community Council and Seward Neighborhood Group for putting this on! Spending the night listening to our neighbors was powerful.
So excited for tomorrow!
Join us as we knock with @zaynabmmohamed.bsky.social and @christin-with-mpls.bsky.social this Sunday! What better start to the day than talking to neighbors about the importance of strong public education! www.mobilize.us/mohamed-for-...
Council Member Chowdhury leads with an intentionality, steadiness, and fierce advocacy for community that I strive to embody. Her dedication to her constituents is second to none. Aurin's support for our public schools and city is a model for the type of leadership we deserve! @aurinmpls.bsky.social

Yesterday I met with parents, caregivers, and educators in District 5 to address the questions we have about the "Transformation Plan" together. I was struck that one of the two most popular questions was: "Why is the district doing this?"...
“solutions like closing schools are not really meaningful solutions,” says christin crabtree, running for minneapolis school board. “what that does is it shrinks the number of kids, it shrinks the level of stability in our district, and we end up responding to disinvestment with disinvestment.”
What do I think about school closures? What are some of the biggest questions I am hearing about the MPS Transformation Plan? (pt 1)
Such a great interview with Minneapolis Families for Public Schools cofounder and Cityview parent Shakiya! ✊🏽✊🏽

Since Tuesday I have been connecting with parents and caregivers whose kids' schools could be affected by this "Transformation Plan." Our communities are already feeling the toll. We cannot rush into this.
Please listen to this episode! It is so well laid out & paints a very clear picture of what is happening in our district, why it’s happening, and what our assignment is.
Welp, me and @schooldaves.bsky.social had to get together and do an emergency episode on Minneapolis’s financial/reorganization plan. @wrigleyfield.bsky.social thinking of you
I've spent today talking to parents & educators who feel abandoned by district leadership. The district hasn’t considered the real impact this will have on our communities. How many families will leave our district? Is there any positive impact their proposals would have on our financial situation?
