The part that got cut was her comments on data centers. Basically, the only way she would allow one to be put in is if they paid for the district's infrastructure, employees, and provided all residents with a regular payment. Even then, she'd require them to use renewable energy.

Trust me: whatever you’re doing right now is less important than watching this candidate interview. No spoilers, just trust:

And if he succeeds, then precedent is set & literally no one is safe. Anyone who criticizes him, anyone who doesn’t pay homage to him, anyone not straight white male born US citizen lands on the chopping block. Fascism Is Here. 2/2

WSJ is reporting that the Trump regime is investigating Rep. Ilhan Omar to build a case to strip her of US citizenship, forcibly remove her from office, & deport her. Please understand how dangerous and catastrophic this is. It’s already fascism that he’s trying to do this. 1/2

“Actually, the Child Crushing Machine is fine if it’s someone *else’s* children!” is really very much how we got here. I’m deeply unsettled by how many people I otherwise might like and agree with are willing to go right there.

still out here in pandemic year 7 going "well, maybe some people deserve to have their kids die of measles, as punishment for voting wrong. did you think of that"

Someone said to me they can’t believe the rape crisis on college campuses has gotten this bad, and I replied that it’s not that it’s ‘gotten this bad,’ it’s that they’re finally being reported—and even then a mere fraction of the horrid reality of epidemic campus rape.

I did a long interview about the proliferation of police drones, what they're using them for--and importantly, what's keeping them from being armed. The answer? In most places, not much. Companies are noticing this lack of regulation and are starting to roll out plans for selling weaponized drones.

Police drones already answer 911 calls in some cities. Matthew Guariglia (@mguariglia.bsky.social) of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (@eff.org) says the taboo is one of the few things keeping them unarmed. Ep. 525 with Hunter is out now: linktr.ee/pdefenseless...

Podcast promo about armed police drones: black-and-white portrait of a man against a brick wall with the quote, "One of the only things kind of keeping them from being armed is right now just the taboo," urging listeners to Episode 525 of the Public Defenseless Podcast.

Three years ago today: 71-year-old landlord Joseph Czuba confronts his tenant, a 32-year-old Palestinian-American mom, saying he's angry at her for what was happening in Israel. "Let's pray for peace," she replies. Czuba then stabs her, and kills her son, 6-year-old Wadea al-Fayoume.

This is the power of solidarity and organizing, in the face of tremendous horror and constant violence. We need more immigration court-watchers on the ground to make sure no one is disappeared, and ICE is held accountable for their continued illegal violence. Sign up here: jfrej.org/courtwatch

Today, one of our fellow New Yorkers was kidnapped by ICE outside a court room in Federal Plaza, in direct violation of the most recent federal ruling. Because a JFREJ court-watcher was on site, we could get the person's contact info to Mi Tlalli to provide commissary & support for the family.

I have somehow stepped right in the middle of some unspecified beef between two of my Iranian friends. I don’t think it’s political? But hard to tell when they’re both doing the super polite “oh yes please invite her” & “Sorry I can’t meet you two for tea but please don’t mention anything to her!”

Her "immigration status" is that she's been a US citizen longer than either Melania Trump or Elon Musk. The Democrats SHOULD use this opportunity for 100% solidarity with one of their own, and throw the fucking kitchen sink at Trump and his Republicans. I doubt they will but would LOVE to be wrong.

The horrific video of a little girl surrounded by fire as her mother burns to death in their home exemplifies the reality of Israel’s genocide in Gaza. We cannot comprehend how any political leader with a conscience could continue to fund the sheer cruelty of the Israeli government.

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

Taking a friend to a show at Carnegie Hall next week and she literally asked me the best way to get there. I told her the subway line instead of the most obvious answer 🤡
