Homeless Link found that 77% of people experiencing homelessness had a diagnosed mental health condition. Housing & mental health are closely connected. A safe home can provide an important foundation for wellbeing, alongside access to the right support. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorldHomelessDay

This #WorldHomelessDay, we're joining organisations across the sector to imagine what a future free from homelessness could look like. We asked Crisis members to create postcards from their future selves in a world where homelessness no longer exists, to themselves today ❤️
93% of people experiencing homelessness would rather sleep rough than give up a companion animal. This #WorldHomelessDay, I’m supporting @BigIssue's call for emergency and homeless accommodation to be pet-friendly by default. Sign the petition 👇 bigissue.com/home/your-pet-…

Great to be invited to Edge Hill University today to talk with Politics & Law students. The students were fantastic, very engaged with great questions.
Awaab’s Law is already helping to drive up standards in the social housing sector. We’re now moving to extend it to private landlords so that England’s 11 million private renters can enjoy the same protections. www.gov.uk/government/c...

It was a pleasure to host the homelessness rally in Liverpool last week, alongside Lodestone, the Big Issue, Lord Bird, Crisis, Greater Change, Centrepoint and Homeless Link.
Lovely sunny day to be out in Fulwood Park & Festival Gardens ward this morning. Lots of positive conversations & casework picked up. Thanks to everyone who was out campaigning & everyone who chatted with us.
New figures from the Museum of Homelessness & @ncmd.bsky.social reveal 51 children experiencing homelessness died in the UK in 2025. 63% of them were under one year old. All local authorities should be required to record and report homeless deaths in their area, including children.

It was a pleasure to speak at the Mainstream Rally. Mainstream Labour stands for pluralism and an openness to different voices within the Labour movement which is essential if we are to escape from the factionalism of the past decade.
Incredibly sad news that Dame Esther Rantzen has passed away. A tireless campaigner & advocate for Assisted Dying. A very emotive issue with strongly held beliefs on both sides. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this very sad time. Photo credit: The Guardian
It was a privilege to speak at the POA fringe this week. Prison Officers face challenges every day that few outside the profession can understand.
Great session at Lark Lane Farmers Market today. Always important to support independent local businesses. Thanks to everyone who stopped to chat today. Really pleased to hear constituents filled with hope by our new Prime Minister & the direction of travel.

Thanks to King David High School for inviting me into school to speak to the students today. The students were incredibly engaged & we covered a wealth of topics such as homelessness, assisted dying, equalities & so much more.
Out this evening in Edge Hill ward speaking to residents about local & national issues.
Under the opt-out system, families are still asked to support organ donation. When families know what their loved one wanted, most say yes. When they do not, support drops significantly. register.organdonation.nhs.uk/start/
Great to meet participants of degree apprenticeships at Hope University last week. Students were engaging & clear about the difference a degree apprenticeship was making to their lives including financial considerations & learning styles. I will be discussing key issues with the Minister.

Great to be out in the doorstep today. Despite the rain, we had a warm reception. Great conversations & casework picked up and reported to appropriate places.
Very productive day interviewing for our Pride in Place Project Manager alongside Chair of the Board, Ian Merrison. Thanks to all candidates who were excellent & demonstrated a real passion for the project ahead.
My office has had several constituents get in touch detailing their concerns regarding the proposed academisation of St Anthony of Padua Catholic Primary School. I have written to the Archdiocese of Liverpool, the Chair of Governors, and the Schools Minister.
It was great to catch up with the Minister for Courts and Legal Services today. Minister Sackman visited Liverpool Magistrates & Crown Courts & met with members of the Merseyside Criminal Justice Board, to further understand how partner organisations deal with cross-CJS issues on a regional level.
Alongside colleagues I’ve signed letters to the Secretary of State, and the Chief Executive of Ofcom regarding the failures of Royal Mail. We’ve had several complaints from constituents about missing appointments and receiving fines due to letters arriving too late. And this problem is countrywide.
Pleased to be chairing the Westminster Hall Debate today on bringing the water industry into public ownership.
