Sagebrush on the Mesa #EastCoastKin #Photography #LandscapePhotography #Mamiya #Filmisnotdead #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited

A color photograph, landscape orientation, of a weathered sagebrush shrub growing through a barbed wire fence. The shrub fills the center and right of the frame. Pale gray-green foliage and a tangle of bare, reddish-brown twisted branches sweep in a diagonal from upper left down to a thick trunk near the lower right. A smaller, drier shrub sits to its left. Strands of barbed wire run horizontally across the frame, passing behind and through the branches. Beyond the fence is a flat pasture of pale tan grass, a band of dark trees and rust-colored shrubs, then foothills lit in soft gold, with a bank of low white cloud against them under a clear cyan sky. Tall dry grass in straw and gold tones fills the bottom of the frame, out of focus. The shrub and the nearest wires are sharp; everything behind them is soft.

The image sets two kinds of line against each other: the thin, regular strands of wire and the twisted, organic wood of the shrub, which echo each other in their knots and barbs. Shallow focus isolates the plant from a soft blue-and-gold distance, and the palette splits cool above and warm below, with the silver foliage bridging the two. The fence reads as human enclosure and the shrub as something that has outgrown it.

#ECK #PostProcess #temperature #photography #forestFriday Original 📷: @rjrock.bsky.social Somewhat subtle edit. I want to entice the viewer to explore the contrast between the creek and the surrounding trees. Notes in alt.

Created two layers... one cooling the white balance and one warming the white balance.

Then I painted on a mask to control which areas were warm and which cool.

The creek is generally cooler, but to make it work, I needed to carefully warm up the bit of rocks and vegetation that would have caught the sun.

I hope this contrast give the eye motivation to explore both the water and the forest... encouraging an active and immersive viewer experience.

A rain-spattered rose at night. Had to stop for that. #EastCoastKin #Photography #ClassicMono #Leica #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited #ColorADay #BWFri

A black-and-white close view of a single rose, fully open, filling roughly the left two-thirds of the frame against a nearly black background. A narrow band of sunlight crosses the upper and front petals, rendering them in bright silver-white and pale gray and picking out small beads of water along the petal surfaces and tips. Toward the lower left the petals fall through mid-gray into near black, and the base of the flower dissolves into the dark. Behind the rose, a few faint round points of out-of-focus light sit in the upper right. A paler petal curls behind the bloom at upper left.

A low-key study in light and form. Without color, the image depends entirely on luminance: a single shaft of sun models the ridges, folds and droplets, and each petal edge carries a bright line against its own shadow. The steep fall-off to black gives the picture a chiaroscuro quality, closer to sculpture than to a conventional flower portrait. Shallow depth of field holds focus on the water-beaded upper petals while the background disappears. The dark right side gives the off-center bloom room, and the lost base of the flower reads as deliberate shadow rather than missing detail.

#PostProcess Challenge: #Temperature Make temperature a deliberate, visible part of your edit of these serene scene from a German forest. Everything else is yours: crop, tone, contrast, texture. Take the temp and push it, split it, flip it, hold it, isolate it or anything else... Chill in the air

#PostProcess Challenge: #Temperature #ECK #nature #photography The stunning original photo provided by @rjrock.bsky.social Link to the original can be found. tinyurl.com/4c99jewm All edits in Lightroom mobile app.

A long-exposure photo of a small forest stream flowing over mossy boulders, the water silky smooth and glowing deep blue in the foreground with soft pink-white highlights in the cascades. Tall evergreen and beech trees rise behind, with bright green and golden-orange autumn leaves hanging in the upper frame and pink wildflowers and ferns along the bank.

Evening #BlueSky 🫖 Inspired by my time away in the U.K. last weekend where Autumn/Fall in all its colour brings a chill. For challenge #PostProcess #Temperature Original photo by @rjrock.bsky.social Achieved using LightRoom. Info #AltText Have a great rest of your day my freinds ☺️

Another stunning original Rock image to work with and thank you my friend for that, such a pleasure to edit from as always☺️

This week as usual l first thought of what l can do and l selected a seasonal change. That gave me two options either Autumn/Fall or Winter.

I did start with a Winter edit but l felt it was to bland, looked to washed out and l was losing a lot of detail (and in a capture this good, that would be a crime!)

So, inspired by my recent trip to the U.K. and the beautiful golden colours of the season, that’s where the edit went.

I went into Lightroom on the iPad and did three masks. One to separate all the vegetation and trees, one to separate the water and the last to separate all the rocks and natural ground, all of those were done free hand.

Experimenting began with all my usual tricks in the light, colour, effects, detail and finally the optics tab fiddling around with all those values on each individual masked area on the sliders until l got a result l was happy with when brought all together.

Lens correction, a subtle vignette and my usual white border frame finished this week’s edit.

Gnarled Love these scrub roots on the mesa--all along the fence lines. So much character--like lines on a face. #ClassicMono #EastCoastKin #Photography #LandscapePhotography#Leica #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited #BWFri #ColorADay

A vertical black and white photograph of a field edge beneath a mountain. A tangle of weathered roots fills the lower half of the frame, its bark peeled into long ropey strands that loop and spiral over each other. An upright wooden fence post stands at the left, with barbed wire running diagonally from it to the right and through the tangle. Beyond the fence lie tall pale grass, a dark band of brush, and a banded hillside rising to a pale rocky summit near the upper right. Low sunlight rakes across the scene and throws a large dark triangular shadow over the mountain. The sky is bright and nearly white.

The image is built in layers: roots in front, fence and field in the middle, mountain above, so the eye climbs through them. The rigid post and straight wire contrast with the looping curves of the roots, setting human-made order against organic growth. Raking light brings out texture from bark grain to single grass blades, and the diagonal mountain shadow repeats the diagonals of the wire at a larger scale. The mood is quiet and weathered.

Hot & Cold. Original photo: @rjrock.bsky.social #ECK #EastCoastKin #PostProcess #Temperature

Using the iPhone’s photo editor and Snapseed, I adjusted the temperature, tint, saturation, vibrance, sharpness, definition, and noise reduction to create two contrasting moods: one very warm, the other very cool.

New #PostProcess challenge this week based on the original image by @rjrock.bsky.social . The theme is #temperature I was looking for a #cold #winter temperature look. Details in ALT #photography #nature #ECK

Using the Snapseed app, I wanted to try to get the look of winter - cold temperature. First cropping the photo, I then proceeded to use Drama, HDR Scape, Glow, adjusted overall, and Vintage. I went back and forth using these steps several times and ended with Vintage.

Rock @rjrock.bsky.social give us a new challenge for the #PostProces theme #Temperature #ECK #Snapseed I have used different settings in Snapseed to try the mossy bouldersa bit lit up.More in the alt.

I have used curving, colours, and different other settings that Snapseed gives us to work with. Still to learn a lot here.

#ECK #PostProcess Original 📷: @rjrock.bsky.social For this challenge, I opted to lean into the warm autumnal tones, although the dark greens and water still retain some coolness.

Water flows in a rocky stream in a forest in autumn.

In Lightroom I made selective color and luminosity edits on the orange and red leaves and the moss. I made a radial gradient in the center to slightly increase the exposure and temperature.

Ian Guffogg @thegeekysnapper.bsky.social · 5d ago

Photo taken by @rjrock.bsky.social & processed by me (brief process in alt) #ECK #EastCoastKin #PostProcess #Temperature Went autumnal with it. The dichotomy of such pictures intrigues me. Logically you know it was—likely—a chilly day, but the rich, orange tones make the entire frame feel warm.

A photo of a river running through a German forest, all the leaves, foliage, moss etc are various shades of autumnal oranges and yellows (after my tinkering in editing software). The original photo was taken by @rjrock.bsky.social and edited by me.

A fairly simple edit, made in Darktable.

I started by increasing the exposure a little in the Exposure module.

Then, in the Colour Calibration module, I changed the ‘adaption’ mode to ‘none (bypass)’, just to stop Darktable throwing up a bright red warning message on the module, then in the Blue Primary RGB channel I moved the blue slider towards yellow, eyeballing the amounts.

Then I activated the Colour Equaliser module, used the colour selector eyedropper to select any areas of green that I wanted to autumnify, and adjusted them until I liked the results.

Finally, I activated the Sigmoid module—I’m not too sure what it actually does (I once looked up how another module works and it was headache inducing, so haven’t bothered to look it up), but it seems to often make colours punchier.

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough Sassolungo in the Dolomites, from the gondola affectionally called the coffins. Follow the line of cars to the top and you'll see what a ride it is. #MountainMonday #EastCoastKin #Photography #LandscapePhotography #Fuji #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited

A vertical view of a massive Dolomite peak, taken from a cable car in the Italian Alps. A single steel cable runs down the center of the frame from the top edge, with a second cable slanting in from the upper left. The peak fills the upper right: a huge wall of pale pink and gray rock, with sharp spires and deep vertical gullies, and thin clouds drifting off its right shoulder. A smaller jagged ridge rises to the left. Below the cliffs, white scree slopes sweep down into golden autumn grass dotted with dark green pines and scattered boulders. A gravel path winds across the lower half, with two tiny hikers on it. On the left, white cable car cabins numbered 42, 49 and 50 hang along the line near a lattice support tower. The sky is pale blue with soft haze.

The image works through scale. The hikers and cabins are tiny against the cliffs, and that contrast conveys the mountain’s size without any further reference. The vertical format and the cable running top to bottom pull the eye down toward the path and then back up the rock face, while the winding path adds a human-scaled counterpoint to the monolith. Warm rock and autumn grass sit against cool sky and shaded pines, and the thin cloud at the peak’s edge softens an otherwise severe silhouette. The mood is calm and awestruck rather than dramatic.

Haze on the Water Dusk over Lake Garda. The mountains come straight down to the water here, and the town lights up as the sky fades. #MountainMonday #EastCoastKin #Photography #LandscapePhotography #Fuji #PhotographersofBlueSky #PhotographersUnited

A wide view over Lake Garda at dusk from a rooftop. The lower left is filled with a sloping field of weathered terracotta roof tiles in orange and rust, with a dormer, a skylight and metal chimney caps. Along the ridge, white block letters on a rooftop frame spell HOTEL, with the rest of the sign reversed and facing away from the camera. Beyond the roofs, flat blue-gray water runs to a long mountain range on the left, hazy and shadowed, that descends toward the horizon at center right. On the right shore, a town of ochre, pink and cream buildings climbs the hillside around a church bell tower, with a lit waterfront promenade and a yellow hotel in the lower right corner. The upper half is sky: layered clouds in pale blue, lavender and gray, a peach glow near the horizon, and a thin contrail at the top.

The composition stacks warm against cool: saturated terracotta in the foreground against the blue recession of mountain, water and sky. The mountain range forms a long diagonal that leads the eye down to the town and the pink glow at the horizon, while the partly reversed rooftop sign anchors the foreground in a specific place. Atmospheric haze separates the ridgelines into planes of decreasing contrast, which gives the scene depth. The mood is quiet and evening, a travel view that favors the whole scene over a single subject.

Oct 19 - Oct 25 #Temperature

Change the color temperature of the image and let that change carry the result.

Temperature has to be a deliberate, visible part of your edit
Everything else is yours: crop, tone, contrast, texture. Black and white is fair game if temperature still drives it

Ways in (pick one or invent your own)

Push it: take the whole image warmer or cooler
Split it: warm highlights with cool shadows, or the reverse
Flip it: swap what’s warm and what’s cool
Hold it: pull everything toward neutral and see what’s left
Isolate it: change temperature in one area only

#ECK #PostProcess #Reveal Original 📷: @rjrock.bsky.social I wanted to reveal the structure in the otherwise open expanse. Very much an experiment as I worked in the Affinity app instead of my usual Adobe tools.

edits in Affinity App.

Used layers to dodge/burn for lighting on the area with the structure.

Heavily used a disruption filter to create unrealistic but motivated lighting to bring eye to the structure area.

Painted over the light area in the foreground with the stamp tool to create a dark foreground.

Lens blur on the foreground.

#PostProcess #EastCoastKin #ECK #Abstract is the theme. Take this image somewhere it no longer reads as what it was. It can look like something else entirely. Tell us where you started and stopped and why. (see ALT) Collage on Repeat 🟪🟧🟨🟩🟦 @mjlinde.bsky.social

Given the theme of "abstract" allowed me, perhaps, to be more creative and take more risks. However, I did this within just the tools in my editing toolbox versus using Create and remix.. I "lasso erased" the people/mall within the original photo..gave it the pastel look.. and then I simply started opting for brighter colors, focus, and intensity. made one finished product and then simply colaged it into three and then repeated another collage of the collage!
Thanks again, Rock, for providing the original photo!

My effort for his week’s #PostProcess challenge, original photo from @rjrock.bsky.social #Abstract is the theme “Take this image somewhere it no longer reads as what it was.” I isolated the cars reflected in the window, merged them, glitched, re-folded, adjusted shading until ...
