Went for lunch at the newly-opened (last month) Excelsior Caffe at Nihon Daigaku in Ochanomizu. Beautiful spacious shop with a slightly European feel. After lunch, started reading Werner Herzog’s memoir (the original German version). The man knows how to tell stories, not only as a filmmaker.

This is a new sumi ink and watercolour on paper, "It's Not Safe to Talk". A woman contacted me to say she saw a young bright maple tree surrounded by dead and dying trees as if they were trying to silence it. She heard, "It's not safe to talk!" How I feel! She said keep shining. So I painted it.
