My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures - No. 25 Gyroscope Apart from Spindizzy, the C64 was bereft of good Marble Madness games, and while Gyroscope could do with a bit more variety and a few more baddies, it’s easy to pick up and play, has nice isometric graphics and is good fun for a while.

My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures No. 26 Red Max This Mad Max-inspired release earned a paltry 36% in ZZAP! who described it as ‘boring and unplayable’. Yes, it is a bit repetitive, but it was only £2, and the graphics are nice, the music is excellent, and it kept me entertained for many hours BITD.

My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures - No. 27 Street Surfer ZZAP gave Street Surfer just 29% and dismissed it as 'one of Mastertronic’s weakest releases', yet I quite liked it. Colourful, instantly playable and powered by a neat David Whittaker tune, it’s a standard budget racer with a recycling twist.

My #C64 Guilty Pleasures No. 28 Tunnel, Tunnel Vision, T-Tunnel Vision! Not nearly as entertaining as the Chuckle Brothers, but Tunnel Vision is a reasonable head-to-head-split-screen-future-racer that’s fun with 2 players. With speech, a track editor and a £1.99 price tag, it was great value too.

My Top 30 #C64 Guilty Pleasures - No. 29 Milk Race Maybe it was a love of bike riding when I was a kid that got me into this. It’s nowhere near the C64’s best racing games, and it can be frustrating, but it has decent graphics and sound and when you get used to the controls, it’s pretty good fun.

My #C64 Guilty Pleasures No. 30 Bazooka Bill ZZAP described Bazooka Bill as 'incredibly repetitive & monotonous' awarding it just 30%, yet there was always something I quite liked about it. The graphics are colourful, the music's great, and I’ve always been a sucker for a bit of run & gun action.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 1 Emlyn Hughes Soccer Simply the greatest C64 footy game. Wonderfully playable and packed with detail, it's magnificent in 2-player mode. Accurate passing, shot trajectory, sliding tackles, last-minute winners and endless rematches. An absolute C64 classic.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games No. 2 Gauntlet One of the C64’s greatest 2-player experiences, Gauntlet is frantic dungeon-crawling brilliance. The biggest laughs came from fleeing death or shooting the food just before your starving mate reached it! Glorious! Cruel, chaotic and enormous fun.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 3 Spy v Spy Devious, frantic and absolutely hilarious, Spy vs Spy is two-player mischief at its best. Setting traps, nicking the loot, legging it to the airport and watching your mate explode never got old. Cruel, clever and brilliant fun.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 4 IK+ One of my all-time favourites, IK+ is C64 fighting at its finest. Beautiful animation, sublime music, loads of humour and that genius third fighter causing chaos. Slick, funny and endlessly playable. A masterpiece.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 5 Bubble Bobble Cute, frantic and ridiculously addictive, Bubble Bobble is 2-player perfection. Trapping enemies in bubbles, nicking bonuses, rescuing your mate at the last second and chasing one more go make it an enormously enjoyable C64 co-op classic.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 6 International Soccer Simple, colourful and instantly playable, the C64’s OG footy game is two-player perfection. No fancy options, no fuss - just end-to-end action, running with the ball on your head, 25-yard screamers and loads of laughs with a mate.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 7 Racing Destruction Set Build the track, arm the cars, set the gravity, then smash your bestie into oblivion. Fabulous 2-player head-to-head race & chase action, with jumps, crashes and plenty of dirty tricks! Competitive, chaotic and enormously enjoyable.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 8 MicroProse Soccer Fast, slick and endlessly playable, MicroProse Soccer is simply two-player gold. Sliding tackles, curling banana shots, rainy pitch chaos and last-minute winners make every match an absolute riot. One of the C64’s finest footy games.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 9 Pitstop 2 One of the C64’s greatest racers, Pitstop 2’s split-screen head-to-head action was jaw-dropping in 1985. Fast, frantic and ultra-competitive, it turned every race into a cramp-inducing battle for bragging rights. Brilliant fun with a friend.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 10 4th and Inches The best gridiron game on the C64 by a mile. Packed with management options, but at heart it’s a brilliant action sports game, with excellent graphics and fantastic 2-player gameplay. Head-to-head, it’s fast, competitive and great fun.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 11 Way of the Exploding Fist The first proper one-on-one karate game on the C64, Fist was absolutely stunning when it arrived in the summer of 1985. Tense, tactical and wonderfully satisfying, its 2-player bouts were brilliant - a stone-cold classic.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games No. 13 Barbarian Palace’s sword-swinging classic came with plenty of controversy, from the risqué adverts to the blood, gore & infamous decapitations, and in 2-player mode, nothing beat the savage satisfaction of chopping your mate’s head off. Brutally brilliant.

My Favourite #C64 Two-Player Games – No. 14 Alien Syndrome Charging around alien-infested bases with your buddy, rescuing hostages and blasting horrible space beasties before the timer runs out makes for tense, frantic 2-player action. A cracking conversion of Sega’s ace Aliens-inspired coin-op.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games – No. 15 Ikari Warriors This brilliant but tough-as-nails arcade conversion really comes alive with a buddy alongside you. Stomping through the jungle, spraying bullets, lobbing grenades and nicking the tank makes for cracking two-player Commando co-op action.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 16 Street Sports Basketball Andrew Spencer took International Basketball to the streets & gave us another gem. Cool presentation, fab graphics, loads of humour & brilliantly playable, it’s terrific two-player fun. Simply the best basketball game on the C64.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 17 International Karate Archer Maclean’s karate classic is slick, stylish and brutally competitive. The 2-player mode is fantastic fun, with tense one-on-one bouts, flying kicks to the head and last-second knockouts. Simple, sharp and still great fun.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games – No. 18 Beach Head 2 “HEY! DON’T SHOOT ME!” Beach-Head 2’s real fun began in head-to-head mode. As kids, nothing was funnier than blasting your mate to bits or catching him round the lughole with a perfectly aimed knife throw. Another Carver brothers classic.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No. 19 Armalyte This top-drawer, super-slick and utterly gorgeous shooter is brilliant solo, but the simultaneous 2-player mode turns it into a proper co-op blast. Fast, tough and chaotic, it’s all about covering each other and somehow surviving the onslaught.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games – No.20 Wizball This strange and super-slick shoot-'em-up was like nothing else when it bounced onto the C64. In 2-player mode, one player controls Wiz while the other guides the Catellite, turning its quirky, colour-collecting chaos into cracking co-op action.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games - No.21 International Basketball Andrew Spencer’s basketball spin on International Soccer looks and sounds familiar and retains the original’s superb playability. In 2-player mode, it’s a fast, frantic end-to-end scrap that’s simple, competitive and enormous fun.

My Favourite #C64 Two Player Games – No.22 Kikstart 2 Another beauty from the master of the C64 racer, Shaun Southern. Great graphics, an awesome track editor and superb gameplay, but it’s the head-to-head mode that really shines. A feast of fast, funny and fiercely competitive two-player action.
