How does forest dieback affect the atmosphere around it? A new study led by VOLT PhD Student @martacontreras.bsky.social has just been published, exploring the impact of snow gum dieback on VOC emissions: doi.org/10.1029/2025... We also made a short video to help illustrate this study.🌳☁️

The second paper of my #PhD is out! We show snow gum #dieback alters #VOC emissions from #tree trunks, primarily through an increase in #monoterpene emissions. Emissions from infested trunks are actually comparable in magnitude to those from leaves 🌳🪲☁️
