When some people ask whether it is necessary to put my name on an article that I suggested a few ideas and design perspective, I tell them it depends on the context and the level of contribution. However there is no harm in acknowledging. Though people don’t care this, which is a bit sad.

It is tiring to convince people about being transparent about AI involvement in writing. If I need to go over every piece of text myself, why we bother writing together is my newest existential challenge academically.

One of the reasons why S’pore was a smart city was not simply infrastructure or digital adoption, but also the trees! They grow trees everywhere to control the heat in the city. Also it helps people to maintain good mood. Perhaps it is time for countries dealing w/heatwaves to make cities as such.

I sometimes send draft resume to the companies. I sent to a Google associated company recently. They rejected but shortly after I received an email stating free credits to test Google sciency products.

Super happy to share that I closed the loop and returned where my journey started.. This time as a faculty at METU Informatics Institute. Thanks so much to everyone who supported my journey so far! Looking forward to continue our collaborations & starting new ones 💪🤩

When my mind is occupied with a lot of thoughts than I can’t think through at home, I play bullet chess continuously for hours since the last year of PhD. In fact, now, I am pretty good at it particularly. I sometimes think joining official tournaments to see my actual level.

I requested a pdf, as I could not access, from Nature paper correspondence working at a prestigious institution. I wonder how long it will take to reply me for this simple request. I will try first author as well. Perhaps I can ask the data as well.

This is crazy 🎭 I noticed an actual review paper peer reviewed and published at IF>6 journal under cell group. I notified the journal that there is something “bullshit” (w/formal language). The review is still there. They had nonsense tables with misleading info. Yet, no one did anything about it.

Indeed.. here is "generate the first page of a great Nature paper that will get lots of citations. It must be very novel."

It is easy to spot work fully written by AI. People do not even bother to correct the nonsense. It is tiring. I also use AI tools. I am AI hyped for summaries, data analysis and advanced coding features. However, the expertise is required to make sure it’s reliability. Let’s use our brain more 🧠

I want to have one week of completely free time. No chores no calls no messages but just pure scientific discussions time to time. Meals&quiet space. Also freedom to do whatever you want to pursue/build in short period of time (ideas to tools).Yes, a retreat 🔥

Since 2026, I heard a lot of groundbreaking or good enough studies from Science. I used to enjoy Cell papers (despite being long and boring for some researchers). Nature was meh. I really like NAR. Now I feel like Science is my favorite overall. They also have support to ECRs, it is a plus as well.

I have been feeling far behind the single cell and high throughput data analysis in 2 years of not working anything related to it. I need to catch up. I want to use Claude code and also try some fancy figures with other LLM tools. A manuscript in RNA therapeutics would be nice as well. 2026 goals.

So question for single-cell peeps. It seems that ParseBio is even more locked-down than 10x! Is it the case that if I'm not a "registered" ParseBio customer, I can't even access their splitpipe software? Is there any archived version of splitpipe available?
