One year ago I completed my MSc AI at the @liverpooluni.bsky.social and I still wait to receive my certificate. Currently they claim it arrived because DHL claimed they delivered (they proved it with a photo of a mailbox that wasn't mine). Apparently that counts more than my word. ONE YEAR!
While I was waiting in the hospital for my wife to come out if surgery we had a code Red and a code White which made me look up what these mean. Turns out there is a whole rainbow...

Trump threatens to rename Lake Ontario. Checkmate, Canada. | Opinion
In our ongoing and unnecessary trade war with Canada, the Canadians likely never imagined President Donald Trump would hit them with a lake renaming.

That is new: every time I open the YouTube App on my phone it starts a random short from my timeline. I fixed this by selecting a shorts time limit of 0 minutes in the settings. This coincidentally matches precisely how much time I like to waste with this type of content anyway.
Forgot my bag stuffed with things you don't want to loose in a highly frequented cafe in downtown Toronto. Came after one hour and it waited for me where I left it.
One hallmark of a lousy app is that it's chock full of features. A good app does one critical and necessary thing well. A pile of features typically does nothing but add clutter and make the app harder to use. 1/12
I'm teaching my personal blog engine how to emit a proper #podcast so the static snapshots of my podlove based podcasts will soon be generated cleanly. The only thing I'll loose is podcast stats and... I really don't care :-)
The AI text watermarking is interesting in the context of my personal blog engine. I intentionally build an AI polishing stage into it but at no point is this thing actually writing my posts. However, watermarks would mark my texts all the same...

How can it be that Fediverse and Bluesky are clearly nerd-first but rank last on where the developer conversation actually happens? I really don't get it but data doesn't give a f* what I think... :-(

Why do AI coding agents stumble on quick Python scripts? Virtualenvs, PEP 668, & runtime KeyErrors. I added one rule to my agent: "Prefer Dart over Python." Instant JIT execution, zero venvs, & sound type safety. Why it works: dev.to/gde/why-i-te...
Why I Tell My AI Coding Agent: "Prefer Dart Over Python"
The default reflex for AI scripting is Python. Here is why switching your agent's temporary scripting prompt to Dart eliminates environment hell and runtime bugs (and why Rust isn't the alternative).

All my wordpress pages are now replaced with static snapshots. Soon(ish) I'll replace those with something cleaner but for now I got rid of the headache of watching my pages just to keep my podcasts online.
And... my wordpress was hacked again. I think today's the day. I'm done with this.

This story shows the dangerous place we're in atm. I was curious and looked for a credible source. The lack of official posts from any Spanish institution alone gives away that this is fake, but it turns viral all the same. Folks, which part of "don't trust the internet" did you not understand?

Ok, first easy kill: I ran a custom URL shortener/forwarder based on wordpress (yes, yes, I know... lazy). Kicked it out, replaced it with a .htaccess file.
Woke up to my wordpress installations being under attack. While I am glad that my setup seems to hold for now, I'm gradually loosing trust this will last much longer. This weekend I'll free myself from remaining wordpress and PHP installations.
