my thoughts on the RecRoom shutdown I'm not good at making my words coherent in any way, but I hope my point gets across

"I'm a big enjoyer of physics in games, and almost every world in rec room had some form of interactable physics objects, be it a weapon, or just something as simple a water bottle (which were one of my favorites lol), and I really enjoyed the fun movement mechanics like climbing and I think even wallrunning/jumping, which, while are pretty commonplace features in platformers, aren't in very many other vr games, if any. it made rec room feel a lot more dynamic in a lot of ways, especially combined with the physics engine even if it's nothing revolutionary.

while it's not anything crazy, rec room has always had a certain charm to it. I've never been to college or university, which I'm pretty sure is what rec room is themed after, but it felt oddly homey in a way, my dorm room felt really comforting and enjoyable even though I didn't put a lot of decorations aside from stuff other people made."

"I've also realized that, given the energy of the videos on their yt channel and how it's shifted ever since the announcement, rec room was made with a lot of love and passion that I wish I saw more in other games.

I eventually stopped playing as often due to some of the playerbase (and just me being an introvert), but sometimes I'd still hop on and try and grind for whatever the currency was so I could buy accessories n whatever, but even when I'd only play for a few minutes, there was something about the style and vibe I really enjoyed, and finding out it's shutting down has been really disheartening for me.
