Oregon State Representative. Union Firefighter. Mom. Likes lifting heavy things, running far, nerdy policy. Personal account. Resolute sin of empathy practitioner.

The world is kind of nuts but today I got to watch my 8lb 7oz tiny baby Z who I carried like a football graduate from college… and now he’s a giant huge-hearted human off to change the world and I couldn’t be prouder. (Also very amused that he’s so tall you have to click for full picture).

A tall handsome man wearing black graduate robes and an OSU scarf with his very proud and smiling mom tucked into his side on a warm summer day.

I am completely undone by this. Not only because this evokes Addison in every way, but because this trailer is just unbelievably gorgeous, absolute genius. I can’t wait for the movie. And Addison… you should have been here to see this. It’s wild how our hearts can hurt and heal all at the same time.

Mesmerizing first trailer for "Wildwood", the new stop motion feature film by LAIKA Studios. Full 4K video >> www.youtube.com/watch?v=POne...

Happy Mother’s Day! In light of war, a return to the Jim Crow South, and those Epstein-file a$$holes still running free, your mom does not want flowers or brunch this year. She would like a reconciliation, a revolution of dignity and justice, and an end to war, for starters. Please and thank you.

If you are running as a pro-union candidate, then use union printing and union shops. Seeing quite a bit of “I’m pro worker and pro union” lit out there without a union bug. (And we have great union shops in town if ppl need reccs, and union partners who print).

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

Breaking: Tennessee Republicans pass new 9-0 gerrymander after SCOTUS destruction of Voting Rights Act eliminating state’s only majority-Black district & last Democratic seat. Splits Memphis, which is 63% Black, into 3 districts to disenfranchise Black voters. Quite literally a return to Jim Crow

I was so proud to support the expansion and sustainment of this rollout here in OR. I never imagined then it would be so personal. Yesterday was Addison’s birthday. I wish she had dialed those three numbers. 988 saves lives.

Here's a goddamn win and thank you to many people for bringing it to my attention: 988 works. We have more people still with us because of it. I'm glad they're here and I'm glad you're here. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/22/s...

I know it’s a robust past-time to post about the feckless legislature, but we have done some truly great things to push back against federal overreach this session with unpredictable headwinds. I’m proud of the work we are doing.

A bill expanding Oregon’s shield laws that protect doctors, nurses, midwives, and others who provide abortions and gender-affirming care to out of state patients has passed both chambers in the Oregon Legislature.

I got to spend a few hours outside of politics today and see Neko Case at the Reser in Beaverton. What a world-class place to hear music; it’s like being in a studio and it’s absolutely sublime (as is Neko). Also I have no tears left so don’t even try me, Salem.

It was my honor to host @wyden.senate.gov at our very own Ida B Wells HS! And although he may be on a different platform, I want to again invite the guy angry about the transportation tax who was escorted out to my own town hall on March 18th, 6pm, at Neighborhood House.

Held at Ida B. Wells High School, this marked Wyden’s 1,150th statewide open-to-all town hall. https://www.koin.com/news/portland/senator-ron-wyden-addresses-iran-strikes-epstein-vote-by-mail-at-sw-portland-town-hall/?cid=bluesky_

I made it home in time from Salem last night to go see “Wuthering Heights” with Matt. We had to stifle giggles, frankly. Main characters still assholes, and I knew the movie was going to be ridiculous from the opening scene. Has Salem made me that cynical? Clearly. (OG novel still is much darker).
