The reflecting pool is now green, the color of all the money wasted on it. Painting the bottom has apparently heated the water and accelerated algae growth. Pure Genius.

The world is kind of nuts but today I got to watch my 8lb 7oz tiny baby Z who I carried like a football graduate from college… and now he’s a giant huge-hearted human off to change the world and I couldn’t be prouder. (Also very amused that he’s so tall you have to click for full picture).

I am completely undone by this. Not only because this evokes Addison in every way, but because this trailer is just unbelievably gorgeous, absolute genius. I can’t wait for the movie. And Addison… you should have been here to see this. It’s wild how our hearts can hurt and heal all at the same time.

Last month USPS proposed a new rule that would allow anyone to mail concealable firearms like pistols and revolvers.

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

The most important issue in the nation is the federal government’s attack on Black women in power. Today the FBI raided Virginia Sen president pro-tem Louise Lucas, continuing the political genocide against Black political power. All large platforms dems should be covering this.

Reading this gave me goosebumps. I feel immensely grateful for all our teachers out there trying to help young people contextualize our world and this moment in our country. And to the kids daring to imagine something different.

A bill expanding Oregon’s shield laws that protect doctors, nurses, midwives, and others who provide abortions and gender-affirming care to out of state patients has passed both chambers in the Oregon Legislature.

Huge props to Rep Farrah Chaichi on this one- it was an impossibly hard needle to thread and pass it through both chambers and she got it done.

Oregon state Democratic lawmakers approved a measure on Thursday that would prevent federal immigration officers from wearing masks. The measure is a response to the Trump administration’s nationwide deportation efforts.

I got to spend a few hours outside of politics today and see Neko Case at the Reser in Beaverton. What a world-class place to hear music; it’s like being in a studio and it’s absolutely sublime (as is Neko). Also I have no tears left so don’t even try me, Salem.

It was my honor to host @wyden.senate.gov at our very own Ida B Wells HS! And although he may be on a different platform, I want to again invite the guy angry about the transportation tax who was escorted out to my own town hall on March 18th, 6pm, at Neighborhood House.

The Trump administration rolled back restrictions on toxic pollution from power plants, including limits on the release of mercury and lead.

I made it home in time from Salem last night to go see “Wuthering Heights” with Matt. We had to stifle giggles, frankly. Main characters still assholes, and I knew the movie was going to be ridiculous from the opening scene. Has Salem made me that cynical? Clearly. (OG novel still is much darker).
