GOOD MORNING EAST PORTLAND! The D1 People’s Picnic is on as planned, and I hope to see you this afternoon💜🥰
East Portland: the D1 People’s Picnic is just days away! See the thread to learn what to expect and what you need to know about Saturday’s festivities. (Note about the weather: My office is creating an alternative plan to hold the People's Picnic indoors if it's too smoky outside). 🧵
537 RSVPs to our second annual D1 People's Picnic!? 😱🥹 I hope you're one of them, see ya tomorrow at 12pm in Parklane Park!
What’s the point of a legislative body if they’re going to defer to the executive before they do anything?
Council President Dunphy's line is that amendments should have been vetted with the negotiating team, and that's why he's a no.

My amendment with @counciloravalos.bsky.social to limit the City’s commitment to $120M instead of $395M given that we have exactly zero details about what our dollars will fund just failed 5-7. Had the amendment passed we could have used the Spectator Fund to bond for the $120M. Now we can’t.
Good afternoon, Portland! Today, we’re picking up where we left off with the Moda term sheet discussion after hearing 3 hours (!) of testimony from Portlanders. We also have a proposal to ban right on reds. Follow along here while I post #LiveFromPDXCouncil26

The heat and smoke this week remind us that we can’t wait for some distant future to act on climate when Portland has the worst air quality in the world among major cities right now, our neighbors are going to the hospital for heat illnesses, and Oregonians are losing their homes to wildfire.
Good morning, Portland! Today at Committee of the Whole, we’re continuing 2 discussions from the previous meeting: Zenith-ISQ Franchise Transfer and Vision Zero. As a reminder, we haven’t received public testimony on either yet. Tune in:

I want the Blazers to stay in Portland for generations to come. I also want a deal that respects the people who own the building: Portlanders. Today I'm introducing amendments to help us get there.

Sunrise reveals a Pacific Northwest overwhelmed with wildfire smoke. Combined with rising temperatures in the region, any outdoor activities should be limited as much as possible. weather.gov
Good morning, Portland! Today, our main topic is Moda, and the term sheet Council is set to approve on August 12. Most of the meeting is for hearing from Portlanders on what they want and expect to see from any investment in the Moda Center. Follow along here while I post #LiveFromPDXCouncil26

Next up: Vice Chair Green and I have invited @portlandneighborswelcome.org and their partners to tell us about a single-stair design competition they recently organized. The competition is part of a broader initiative focused on mid-rise housing development and single-stair building code changes.
