It is a great privilege to be named Mencoff Family RNA Research Professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Brown University. I am grateful to Mencoff Family, Brown University, Department of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry and Guiliani RNA Center.
Our RAPPL international patent application has just been published.
Visit from a friend and great colleague from Newcastle University. Sergey Melnikov will after snowy February in Providence talk tomorrow about hibernating ribosomes. Another talk at Brown RNA Center. #ribosomes #RNA

Approaches for identification of 5′ UTR mutations impacting translation and protein production from neurodevelopmental disorder genes
Coding mutations can cause neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs), including autism. Yet, predicting which non-coding (e.g., 5′ untranslated region [UTR]…

Four days of science at @events.embl.org in Heidelberg for "Protein Synthesis and Translational Control" meeting.
Our RAPPL purification of ribosomes and associated material is out. I am really proud of this study in collaboration primary with Pavlovic-Djuranovic lab, as well as Jovanovic and Hashem Labs. This method aims to replace 60 years old purification of ribosomes by sucrose cushions rdcu.be/ezlhg

Ok after @cryoclem.bsky.social we also tried Archaeal ribosomes (and some proteasomes) with RAPPL (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...) as well as some specific translation cycle complexes with new method.
After RAPPL (www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...) we found another way to get ribosomes and other macromolecular complexes easier to the cryoEM grids. This time besides ribosomes p97 complexes were purified (back to the PhD times). Stayed tuned...
