36) Hero Come Home by Vajra Chandrasekera (Jul) New Vajra Chandrasekera!!! Reliably thought provoking & stylish in his prose, very little chance of being disappointed with this. Another story of fractured/fractal realities, which seems a bit of a theme in these 2027 releases.

Perfect embodiment of how the narrative compressions of flash fiction, done well, flow so easily into the religious, thrilling the reader with invitations to understand the world unburdened by context or explanation, which is not what meaning is made of. There are woods behind a store.
