Staffing in skilled nursing homes has been tough. Recent federal policy changes may be making things worse. Dr. Prusynski (@doc-doc-pru.bsky.social) discusses these issues with Kitsap Sun. familymedicine.uw.edu/chws/2025/08...

So just to recap, the Transportation Secretary is scared shitless of public transport. The Education Secretary is being sued for enabling child sex abuse. The Health Secretary is bringing back measles. And the Defense Secretary is texting classified war plans to the editor in chief of the Atlantic
That would be Secretary of Education Linda McMahon who's being sued for aiding and abetting systemic child molestation, just to be clear
When I visited Poland in 2018, I learned more about how the #Nazi party targeted German universities, scientists, and academics almost immediately after coming to power.
They got tired of fighting universities, only to have a powerful one (Harvard) fight back. So they're going to just screw us all over in one fell swoop unless we all bow down and throw away DEI programming and students' rights to free speech.
With each passing day, the agenda-driven interference with science intensifies. We can't let the candle in the dark go out. NIH moving to ban all future grants to universities with DEI programs or Israel boycotts, document suggests www.statnews.com/2025/04/21/t... via @statnews
As of today, the NIH is saying it will deny funds to institutions that have any DEI programs. Segregationists are so threatened that marginalized people *may* have opportunities for advancement that they are willing to shut down universities and the scientific enterprise over it.

“I Am Seeing My Community of Researchers Decimated”
Across the country, the Trump Administration’s assault on public institutions and its cuts to government funding are forcing scientists to abandon their work and the patients who benefit from it.

During COVID, we learned the hard way that nearly all our hospital PPE i.e. masks, gowns, gloves comes from China. A 104% tariff could send us straight back to pandemic-level shortages or drive healthcare costs even higher.🫠

It’s human nature to desire wealth/privilege (resources). One example is we all get old or sick at some point and want to be able to survive w/o working, etc. It is pathologic, antisocial behavior to hoard excess resources while watching others suffer for lack of. There are no ethical billionaires
