I'd say our transfers so far put us at about break-even vs last yr in terms of squad quality & depth. However, that's a squad that only played 40 games. We now have CL football so staying in the top league places is already going to be a challenge, let alone any other aspirations we might have.
The deal also highlights how far behind we are in our window. As mentioned, arsenal have built their squad and won a title. They're applying finishing touches / flourishes to an accomplished squad. We have lost numbers & quality from a squad that already had a bunch of holes in it.

Liking Shea Lacey. Looks very comfortable in the first team. Yoro has been excellent at RB in preseason as well. And Andrey Santos has settled in instantly. Impressive shielding the back four in these matches. Really want to see Sesko back. And Mainoo hopefully will be back soon.
On paper I understand it: can play LW & CF, 28 G/As last season, proven in the PL, good WC... Signing a player like that would be £40-60m (though his wages are massive). Issue is, he doesn't want to be here. The love seems to have faded away & we can't carry a player like that in the squad.

Ridiculous. I still think not enough was made of their previous illegal bribes & subsequent soft penalty. Eden Hazard literally could have joined United & PL history would be very different. And that's just one example that I've chosen cos it particularly annoyed me at the time that he joined them.

When Morgan Rogers costs £117m in the same window, this has to be seen as a bargain.
Not sure that's the takeaway. Beyond raging about it on here & DM'ing Infantino on Insta, I don't feel like I could have done anything. We're reliant on other leaders within these organisations to do the right thing. Thankfully they did (and yes, well done) but it's not like we have a vote to cast.

We are not powerless to stupid change dictated by — and serving — the power brokers of the global soccer and collective financial bottom lines. Well done to UEFA for being the first to step up.
As a match going fan (not just United), I feel like we've been left behind as most aspects of football succumb to greed & monetisation so this is a very welcome vote. This is exactly how every fan in the world would vote so to see them in such a comprehensive agreement is almost making me emotional.

There's a reason Infantino announced this after the WC. He saw what happened when the Super League was announced so he knew this backlash was coming & timed it with that in mind. Which tells you that he doesn't care. Tangible action is needed. Not just words.
