Just got back from my pre-op consultation with the consultant anaesthetist at the Lister hospital - She was brilliant and so thorough! Upshot? a 10% mortality risk with a general anaesthetic, 5% with a full spinal anaesthetic (an epidural). Got the go-ahead for surgery on this basis - yay!!!!
