This evergreen gem from @drphiliplee1.bsky.social is required reading for all hospital staff in the run up to induction day.

Sooo… Contemplating an article for IWD27 on all the extra stuff women doctors do that isn’t their base specialty. The medical directors. The chief medical officers. The PHEMinists. The academics etc. How do we get the reach? How do we frame it? Thinking “if you can’t see it, you can’t be it”.
I have always wanted to see the aurora borealis. After no luck in Finland in January, the skies above Norway delivered; a wonderful birthday present from the natural world.
When my fab SHO bakes a chocolate and Guinness cake as a thank you for helping out with something and it won’t fit in my bike bag for the journey home, my colleagues get lucky. Not only is she a really good anaesthetist and passed Primary written at the first attempt, she is also a superb baker.
Maggie the Magnolia is also known as “the giraffe tree” when seen from the corridor to the anaesthetic department.
Maggie the Magnolia is looking rather lovely today. She’s the best kept secret in the hospital.
I am out with neither a coat nor a brolly #livingdangerously
Today is the first morning I’ve not needed my bike lights on the commute to work. Spring is springing!
Sux is red Morphine is blue I get tachy When I think of you #teamanaesthesia #medicalvalentine
As I’m unlikely to get my twitter account back any time soon (if ever), here’s a #skywatch featuring a very big cactus.
Definitely one of the more random gig venues… The 16th hole.
How much dark chocolate do I need to eat to suppress my really irritating cough to avoid hacking my way through a presentation tomorrow morning?
I’ve known Samantha Black (@anaesthetistsb.bsky.social) for over a decade. She is standing for election to Council & will do a great job for all anaesthetists; she gets my vote. Please consider a vote for her when your email arrives. Her candidate statement is here: www.rcoa.ac.uk/about-us/how...

The silence at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday was so profound. The only sounds were of the occasional bird, a young child crying and the electronic beeps of a phone notification (sigh, put it on silent). Thousands of people united in remembrance. Many paused again at eleven o’clock today.
It’s World Anaesthesia Day today. Be nice to your anaesthetist; we have all the good drugs.
