got an unexpected email: someone looking for a 2012 Jezebel post I wrote. It was a funny catalog dissection titled "Get To Know Your Carhartt Boyfriend." Thx to various issues including a private equity sale, millions of posts/images are missing from the Gawker/Jezebel archives. Gone! Lost forever.

The Washington Post just laid off its entire award-winning photo team. They were our eyes in places we'll never see. It's a horrifying loss at a time when lying governments, propaganda and AI slop are on the rise.

On this day of horror and impending chaos, a wonderful NYT story by Dodai Stewart of an immigrant from Egypt, now U.S. citizen, who found his dream job as a security guard at the Met Museum, and now has his sculpture featured in one of the its major exhibitions. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/08/n...

I'd heard @dodai.bsky.social was working on this story, then found myself in the exhibit one day a few weeks ago while trying to get someplace else in the Met, so stopped to find the sculpture and was quite taken with it. I'm looking forward to reading the full story over my morning coffee.
