My union: Bargained for health care that's empowering me to beat cancer. Demanded paid sick leave that gives me time to recover from chemo. Shows up with love, encouragement, and a full-blown text program feat. personal messages. Sends cards, handmade art, & love. Solidarity is a verb.

🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:

BOYCOTT STARBUCKS is written inside a zig-zaggy speech bubble against crumbled paper. Beside it are the Starbucks Workers United logo and an image of a coffee cup being poured out.We, the 12,000 and growing members of Starbucks Workers United, call on everyone who stands with working people to boycott Starbucks until they finalize a contract with union baristas and stop union-busting.
What we’re fighting for is simple: a minimum $17/hr wage, enough hours to live on, better staffing in our stores, and basic workplace protections. Every year, our living costs rise but our wages don’t keep up – a growing pressure many American workers are feeling as corporate greed accelerates unchecked in our country.
Starbucks is banking on customers' blind loyalty to the integrity and values this company once stood for in order to keep squeezing them for profits. At a time when working-class people across the country are struggling in a challenging economy, it is no longer possible to be both a Starbucks customer and in support of workers; choosing to spend money at Starbucks is choosing a law breaking corporation over the baristas who make your coffee everyday exactly as you ask for it.
Starbucks has violated U.S. labor law more than any other company in modern history–the NLRB and its judges have found that Starbucks committed hundreds of labor violations and there are currently more than 550 unresolved unfair labor practice charges still pending against the company. Instead of finalizing a fair and reasonable union contract, Starbucks has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of care for the workers who fuel the company’s profits by wasting millions of dollars on AI and technology that doesn’t work, launching countless gimmicky drinks designed to distract from real problems, and inventing pointless policies that do nothing but make our jobs harder.
This ongoing, irrational behavior by Starbucks and its refusal to settle a fair union contract with workers leaves us with no other choice than to call for a boycott. We know when working people stand up together, we win.
No Contract? No Coffee.

Today is chemo day #1! I'm warmed by a fuzzy sweater, blanket, and socks. I'm full of warm fuzzies from your outpouring of love and support! The doctors, nurses, and staff have been wonderful. The treatment path is very clear and promising. I plan to be a rabblerouser for a long time!

It's a big fucking bummer to share that I've been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I start chemo tomorrow, and surgery will follow. I have decent health insurance, a wonderful support system, and the stubborn insistence I won't let one shitty titty take me down. Please send good vibes!

So excited to share this delightful conversation with the one and only @beyondsolitaire.bsky.social! I did a lot of research for Votes for Women, and its never been more clear to me how art begets art. Take a listen to get a few of my sources and inspirations! 🎲✂️

I had a great time chatting with @downtowntbrown.bsky.social about the historical inspiration for Votes for Women, her game from @fortcircle.bsky.social! youtu.be/6vMafgfDzKA

There's a reason we urge kids to play sports, spend education money on athletic departments, and use mascots as unifying symbols. Playing games is a fundamental human endeavor. Being on teams gives a powerful sense of belonging. Learning rules and getting up off the mat teach us important values.

According to Sen. Markey, this is one of the offending panels, but it's the upper quotation that is being erased from a Natl Park site. Whatever the complaint, this is what comes of letting anti-diversity and anti-inclusion shitheads dictate "good vibes only" is how history should be interpreted

"Now that a public orator has declared that foreign-born men have no association with the men of the Revolution, it is our duty to show that in love of freedom and loyalty to the republic, the citizens of foreign birth take no second place..." the Pilot, 1875

"The battle is celebrated for the justice of the cause, which, because it was just, was triumphant. The woman suffrage battle is like that of Bunker Hill - not won today, but sure to be later. Meantime Bunker Hill monument is our monument." Lucy Stone, 1889

A visitor complaint about a quote related to women’s suffrage as being “woke” feminist ideology at the Bunker Hill Monument in Boston, prompted a review of quotes that are anti-war, pro-immigrant or highlight American hypocrisy on slavery at the site. https://wapo.st/4uTIcZK

Today, Italy celebrates its 80th anniversary as a Republic and 80 years since Italian women cast their votes to make democracy a reality. To mark this auspicious occasion, here's a video of me speaking and gesturing emphatically about rights, movements, and the power of board games.
