One of the most common disinformation tactics I see right now is false generalization. This tactic is often deployed by: 1) cherry-picking an outlier case, 2) falsely generalizing that this one case represents others, without proper evidence, 3) smear campaign targeting a larger community.

A Massive Dataset Appears on an Underground Forum A new dark-web claim is raising eyebrows after a threat actor allegedly offered a database containing 892 million records while identifying Morgan Stanley as the supposed source. The scale of the alleged dataset is enormous, but the most important detail may be what the advertisement does not prove: there is currently no reliable evidence confirming that Morgan Stanley itself was breached or that the records originated from the financial institution.
