Children's book illustrators: character consistency is EVERYTHING in children's books. Can you draw your character from different angles? Different emotions? In different situations? Publishers need to know this.

Being a dad will forever be my greatest honor.

Kidlit illustrators, consider how your illustrations are creating emotional resonance in a story. Pay attention to the details. A shared smile between siblings, a stuffed animal clutched tight, a wayward sock, a band-aid on a knee—these small touches tell deeper stories.

I just found out I'm a longlist winner of the November 2024 Tadpole Press 100-Word Writing Contest! Out of 1,576 entries I was one of 268 to be selected for the longlist. I'm pretty proud tbh, this was my first writing contest, and even though it was only 100 words, it was still very challenging.

I've been enjoying some time off-line this week. Time spent writing some, reading a lot, and easing into the holidays. I hope you all are having a great week. #WritingCommunity

The more I delve into the publishing world the more overwhelming it can feel. There are so many great tools at your fingertips these days (I just signed up for Publishers Marketplace) but all this information can be A LOT. #WritingCommunity #kidlit #amquerying #amwriting
