✨A female illuminators work✨: f. 84v : 'Alanus scripsit has horas et ejus uxor illuminavit eas.’ f. 84v: 'Alan wrote these hours and his wife illuminated them.' I have been waiting for this manuscript to be scanned in colour for a very long time, so am super excited to see it now!

Came to Leiden University Library, made a pop-up exhibit of medieval manuscripts. Next item: something cool. (3) Two copies of same Middle Dutch text made by same scribe c1450 for different clients. One ordered copy on parchment, the other on paper (see alt text). Now reunited on same table.

Pop-up exhibit on commercially-made medieval books, continued. Now for a $$$ manuscript. (2) The exquisite handwriting of Raoul Tainguy, a well-known paid scribe in Paris, c1400. High-end writing is typical for expensive books made in France.
