From where I stand, the only clear-eyed Alberta separatists are the ones that want the province to be the 51st state. The notion that Alberta would be independent for more than a week before being annexed just seems totally delusional to me. #forevercanadian

I’m all for adding a small sales tax that aims at more stability and better funding of public goods, but this analysis offers a regressive solution, continuing the wealth transfer from to the wealthy. Boo @thehubcanada.bsky.social thehub.ca/2026/09/17/8...

8/8/8: A clear path to smarter taxation in Alberta

If you’re still on the fence about Alberta separation, remember that it has been provincial leaders who’ve mismanaged our resources all along. Taxes are lower, but we have fewer hospital beds than we did in 1992 when our population was half the size. That’s bad stewardship #Forevercanadian #cdnpoli

I haven’t played #chess for a while, so when my son got interested again, I logged on and immediately dropped my rating by almost 400 points!! Now I am slowly crawling out of my pit of incompetence, with lessons from my son. We’re both learning, but for me it’s mostly humility.

I’ve taken the opportunity on our recent road trips to introduce my kids to a wide ranging history of twentieth century music starting with Scott Joplin through 90s pop. It was cool to see what they recognized and to talk through what was going on that connected to the music.

Disingenuous Analysis. Top earning households who earn income (wages) pay personal income taxes. The ultra rich aren’t “income earners” and often don’t pay income taxes, this stat is used to keep the public from demanding that the ultra rich pay their fair share: lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Screenshot of an article summary claiming the Fraser institute analysis shows high income earners pay more than their “fair share” of taxes.
