some specific democrats suck and they suck in ways that are detrimental to issues that you personally care about you know how you solve that once we are past the primaries? you elect even more democrats so that their votes are less important joe manchin couldn’t have done as much damage as vote 52

1. All centrist Democrats weren’t necessarily saying “Vote Blue No Matter Who” in 2024 2. If centrist Democrats don’t wanna support a leftist nominee, we have three months to persuade them otherwise 3. It probably won’t be much easier than trying to persuade stubborn leftists to vote for centrists

The problem with this question is the presumption that the default value of “electable” is “centrist.” There is a LOT more enthusiasm for El-Sayed than for Stevens. Why wouldn’t this enthusiasm carry over to the general? Is it that much harder to convince centrists than leftists to Vote Blue?

Trump’s first priority, always, is to avoid blame for anything bad. His next priority is to demand credit for anything good. That is how MAGA ended up embracing the ridiculous conviction that COVID-19 was a nothingburger and the deaths were a hoax but Trump was a hero for approving the vaccine.

The Republican hatred of Dr. Fauci doesn’t have to make sense. Because it was never about Fauci’s facts, his reasoning or his ego. The entire Republican message of the pandemic was “I DON’T WANNA!”, and Fauci was their scapegoat. Anything more is overthinking it.

My response to this question is: What SHOULD they be doing? As Bouie acknowledges, Musk’s views are no secret. He’s saying these things out in the open. Musk holds no elected office. He’s a trillionaire, so boycotts would do little to hurt him. And he has not been accused of any actual crimes.

"If there is a question to ask, then, it is this: Why does Musk get a pass? Why do politicians, journalists and commentators treat his far-right racist radicalism as a sideshow rather than the core of his political, ideological and industrial project..." www.nytimes.com/2026/07/29/o...

God, I have zero patience for strident virtue signaling. It’s a wedding. Ever hosted a wedding? With over a hundred people? If so, I guarantee you did not politically agree with every single one of your guests.

The reason we see leftists attack Democrats more often than Republicans is because leftists don’t usually win primaries. But if they are to win elections, these aforementioned leftists will need to pivot from opposing Democrats to representing them.

the lesson the center is going to have to learn here is that "this person is too ideologically extreme" simply no longer works as a "get out of competitive primary free" card, you need to convince the voters you're going to fight harder than your opponent or they'll be happy to give socialism a try
