my strong prior about michigan btw is that the vast majority of primary voters were actually happy to vote for either candidate in the general and will consolidate quite easily behind el-sayed just like they are coalescing behind talarico in texas online freakouts are not real life
this stuff is real and tangible in material ways we don’t have the expanded child tax credit today because joe manchin was personally opposed to it and couldn’t be talked out of his opposition he was also vote 50 of 50, if susan collins had lost in 2020 he’d have been vote 51 and we’d have it
Micah@rincewind.run · 3h agosome specific democrats suck and they suck in ways that are detrimental to issues that you personally care about you know how you solve that once we are past the primaries? you elect even more democrats so that their votes are less important joe manchin couldn’t have done as much damage as vote 52
correct are you serious about beating fascism or not? get in, we’re beating them in november you can be mad, you can be disappointed, but at the end of the day having someone with D in any and all seats is better than having someone with an R in them

aegisiondure @equalnotequals.com · 15h agothis isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

Dem voters, as far as I can tell, have two priorities: 1. Win the election 2. Fight the Trump admin as hard as possible in cases where they are worried that the two conflict, they lean towards “win” via whatever bizarre view of electability has penetrated their personal information bubble

folks this is what Vote Blue No Matter Who actually means we buckle down and beat Mike Rogers in November no matter how this finishes
primary polling is hard, michigan polling is hard, primary polling in michigan is blindfolded darts apparently
this is, to put it mildly, not great for El-Sayed

Sahil Kapur@sahilkapur.bsky.social · 20h agoSusan Collins is a NO on Todd Blanche for AG: “While I believe Mr. Blanche is a capable lawyer, the Department of Justice has become increasingly political.” Unlikely to change the outcome; he can lose two Rs and get confirmed. Collins voted YES on Blanche as Deputy AG last year.

it's the old serena williams tweet in action, that there is a physical difference between the top tier of male athletes and the top tier of female athletes gets taken by far too many delusional men as "I can beat a woman at anything" no, you cannot beat a decent athlete of either gender at anything

we live in an incredibly polarized society where candidate effects *in a general election* are the least potent they've ever been it takes a LOT to run meaningfully ahead of or behind the national party these days who the candidate is matters a lot, policy-wise, but less than you think re: winning

there are definitely downsides to the nuclear block but the reason I keep coming back to it as necessary and good is that it completely ruined the whole MAGA engagement model to the point that they prefer to mock us from the nazi bar rather than come here to troll us directly
