My brilliant colleague Iván Chaar López 's tenure denial is not only a threat to UT faculty, but to all scholars who research topics considered "controversial." His case is a model for how to deny tenure with zero justifications to him or his colleagues. www.statesman.com/news/educati...

UT border surveillance scholar was a shoo-in for tenure. UT denied him.

American Studies scholar Iván Chaar López fears UT’s unexplained tenure denial violated his academic freedom amid scrutiny of controversial fields.

While Donald Trump spewed his delusions about voter fraud, his administration along with SCOTUS are trying to strip Americans of their right to vote. This has everything to do with Making America a White Republic Again. Most Americans aren't buying it.

In a new Spotlight Analysis, @drlmmurillo.bsky.social writes about the anti-immigrant rhetoric that the Trump administration is using to frame its argument for more restrictive voting laws, noting that these negative views are not shared by most Americans. Read more:

This is an important exchange between Congresswoman Tlaib and Russell Vought, the director of Office of Management and Budget. He's deciding what gets funded and what doesn't, often against the express laws passed by congress. He's also a Christian Nationalist. Tlaib called him feckless TO HIS FACE.

This is how to speak to every single one of those sycophants.

@nytimes.com YOU CAN'T SAY CORRUPTION? Listening to NYT The Daily discuss the billions of dollars this dumb man and his kids are making with OUR TAXPAYER dollars and NO ONE CAN SAY THIS IS CORRUPT? We could have healthcare and maternity leave, but instead these buffoons are padding their pockets.

Imagine of NYT headline saying Trump is making billions from his presidency. Below a picture of his ground beef face encircled with his cotton candy blonde hair and a crooked red tie around his neck.

The American taxpayer is responsible for making Musk a trillionaire: without the billions in public funds that have repeatedly bailed out and kept afloat his multiple failing businesses, he'd be just another serial bankrupt. His fortune was built on OUR backs. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Description of several federal and state sources for the billions in taxpayer funds that have kept Musk from bankruptcy and allowed him to buy the US government.

A future Dem government should nationalize SpaceX and rip it away from Musk. He gets NOTHING in return and the US gets its NASA investment back.

I've been thinking about this so much in the last few weeks leading up to this massive IPO launch. He grifted billions from the government in tax right offs, and now he'll be stealing directly from our retirement. It's unconscionable that as a country we've let this happen.

It shouldn’t be controversial to say that the creation of a “trillionaire” represents a giant and complete failure of public policy and government.
