I have largely not watched anything where I would be subjected to political ads for the past 6 months. As a Michigan voter, my main hope is that the primary campaigning has not gotten the general electorate sick of the candidates that have won the primaries.

I suspect a lot of people like the original poster here are missing the fact that many of us find our lives both better and easier without the AI that various companies are trying to force us to use. My personal usage level is basically "enough to demonstrate to students that it gets stuff wrong".

I'm always disappointed in local elections when there is not an option to give more money to the libraries. We have good libraries. But they could be even better with more money. At least I get to vote to restore previously reduced funding to the parks and trails.

I recognize that this is entirely a personal hangup. But. One of the awkward things about teaching an evening class in the summer is that I have a hard time, mentally, devoting substantial amounts of time to non-work stuff before my class on class days.

I love that this author wrote "Americans spend more on food than on anything except housing and transportation" as if this is revelatory. What else would be expected to be as large of a share of a personal budget? Survival essentials tend to be big items...

I find myself doing more coaching on basic life problem solving skills for my college students than I ever would have expected. Things along the lines of "I'm sorry your WiFi is being slow; you should consider changing locations or switching to cell data for (online) class in 9 hours"

There is a certain degree of satisfaction in having gotten to the point of being able to throw something together with the ingredients on hand and not necessarily follow a normal recipe. For my very cooking like I'm following a chemistry lab protocol brain, at least.
