The scouring of Barrambin. Trees were torn down as work on an Olympic stadium got underway. Save Victoria Park claimed to have witnessed distressing scenes of possums & birds scattering from the trees as they came down, they also suggested no wildlife spotters were there during this process. #qldpol

We cannot trust a single thing they say about cost, timeliness, access, legacy, env protections, respect for Aboriginal people and culture, public consultation, privacy. They say what needs to be said to get the next fence built, the next hole dug, & the next dollar extracted #NOlympicsBNE

The Crisafulli government has removed Indigenous people from Barrambin, locked out the public & sent in the machinery. As if the "public consultation" period wasn't enough of a farce, all that "green space" Premier David Crisafulli promised is scheduled to begin in 2042. #qldpol

As we tonight watch David Crisafulli & Jarrod Bleijie pompously parade around the screen, in Brisbane between 1 July 2025 & 30 June 2026, there were 984 families, including 1,539 children, identified by name as homeless. #qldpol www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...

More than 1,500 Brisbane children listed as experiencing homelessness

In the last financial year, 984 families, including 1,539 children, were identified as experiencing homelessness in data collated by Brisbane Zero.

Maddening! They closed the whole park a month ago without even having a plan. Now they pretend propose a forest and restored waterways (pre-olympics masterplan) with a stadium in the middle. Inevitably when they run out of money, they can cancel the forest and waterways... No stadium! #NOlympics

A new Games stadium was never part of the original plan but it looks like Australians are about to get hit with more funding requests from David Crisafulli & Jarrod Bleijie. They won't detail the total cost of their Colosseum but the $7.1b budget isn't going to cover it. #qldpol

Amazing work on radio reversal educating us on why the Olympics are not a win for the hosting city. I recommend the whole #NOlympics committee meetings series with more to come Me think it is likely to be even worse for Brisbane because LNP is in power for most of the crucial decision making years

Booooooooooo!!! Anyway: here's Anna and I talking about narrative capture and NOlympics pca.st/episode/4702... #NOlympicsBNE

I am absolutely BEGGING all of you: please, please, PLEASE stop sharing lies and disinformation from these slop-accounts This is NOT TRUE. Australia's government is actually laying the groundwork for even worse fossil fueled data centres.

How odd: the federal opposition, QLD gov't, the data centre lobby and a random corporate lobbyist all saying data centres shouldn't be subject to climate regulations, all within days. Must just be a coincidence :)

News headline warning energy red tape could stall an AI data‑centre boom, illustrated by a smartphone showing ChatGPT text beside a towering data‑centre building with a busy crowd in the foreground, symbolizing technology, infrastructure and public impact.News article excerpt quoting Coalition housing spokesman Andrew Bragg saying the opposition would not block proposed laws to address the data centre boom’s impact on energy prices and water supplies.Queensland’s green scheme pushback threatens data centre demand — article header above an aerial view of a riverside data centre with rooftop solar arrays, surrounding native trees and nearby apartment towers.Opinion headline from the Financial Review: "Green energy mandate means data centres won’t be built," an editorial arguing net-generator rules could prevent data centre construction, showing the byline Patrick Gibbons and a small black-and-white author portrait.

More @radioreversal.bsky.social eps to come on the NOlympics movement here in Magan-djin/brisbane - this Thurs we'll be playing a live discussion Anna & I recorded with the Ibisa Collective, surrounded by fences at Barrambin, on the Olympics as 'narrative capture'. For now, you can catch up here:

Episode 29 Introducing the NOlympics 2032 Committee

In this episode, Nat & Anna discuss the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games, and why being a host city is, overwhelmingly, a bad thing for the city and a worse thing for a city's poorer and more marginalised

What happens when the Qld mine is no longer viable & the company goes into receivership? The Palaszczuk govt implemented the financial provisioning scheme in 2019 to address some of that. Miners have been lobbying the Crisafulli govt to repeal it. #qldpol www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
