Recently rewatched The OC and holy shit man the first season is 27 episodes. Second is 24, third is 25. Like 15 seasons worth of contemporary TV storylines happened in those first 3 seasons. Yeah the show ended after an abbreviated 4th season but it had 92 episodes. GoT had 73 in 8 seasons.

A big reason why I greatly prefer the 20+ episodes a season model is because it gave shows, and audiences, time to breathe, experiment, explore, and time to find new audiences. Cramming everything into 10 episodes or less often feels rushed, like a stretched out movie.
