Hot take: I strongly dislike the term “starting a family” for having children. A family does not have to include children.

Arrived at #SAHM2026, to find out the Marriott gave away my room! Solution was for me to walk to a nearby hotel by myself, at night, in a city I do not know. I’ve been to a lot of conferences, but this is new.
I love the #Olympics but the adol med doc in me is now worried about the athletes’ post-Olympic mental health. 😕
Ok, we need three more episodes of that ice dancing documentary. #Olympics
Jonny Weir translating all the sideline Russian maybe one of my favorite #Olympic pastimes.

I just came across this podcast and would highly recommend for anyone treating patients with severe and enduring eating disorders. Dr. Tan’s work does not have the place it deserves in today’s conversation about these ethical questions. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Less than 50% fill rate for adolescent medicine this year. Makes me sad and worried for our field and our patients. 😢
I would really appreciate it if people didn’t talk about childrens’ body sizes this holiday season! Also spoiler alert children, teens and young adults should be gaining weight!
In case you’re wondering, it’s barely fall & our children’s hospital is already almost always full with kids boarding in the ER. And the pediatric workforce is stretched thin. Our system does not have the capacity to care for the influx of vaccine preventable diseases that is coming.

It is absolutely infuriating and depressing to see lifesaving medical interventions thrown in the garbage.
Law enforcement! If you ever are involved in rescuing a severely malnourished child from an abusive environment, please do not give them a lot of food. They are likely at risk of refeeding syndrome and should be given nutrition in the hospital setting.
Medical training does not need to be traumatic. Learning can happen without intimidation, abuse, and fear of others. #MedEd
There are two types of MOCA people. Those that wait until 11PM the night before a cycle ends to start questions and those that do them within 24 hours of getting the email. 😂
At #ICED2025! Reminder that the nadir of all cause mortality is around a BMI of 30. 😊
That 20mm ovarian “cyst” is likely a dominant follicle. Please don’t assume this is the source of abdominal pain or tell patients/families it must be removed. Everything isn’t the fault of the ovaries/uterus.
A common misconception about #eatingdisorders is that a desire for thinness is the inciting factor. In reality, weight loss of any kind, regardless of reason, is often how it starts. It could be do to an illness, surgery, etc. In a genetically vulnerable person, this can start an eating disorder.

You know what my favorite part of my job is? Discharging patients from my practice. I love it when they don’t need me anymore. I have a whole “see you at Wegmans and feel free to send life updates if you want” speech and it’s the best. #eatingdisorders
Amenorrhea in athletes should never be normalized. Ever.
