I typically have anime on as background noise while I work, and at this point, I just assume, given the popularity of it, that any anime I put on, no matter what genre, is going to involve a Japanese high school student getting summoned to another world.
The choice to have her holding gear for soccer and hockey, sports that are decidedly NOT the big 3 American sports, is fantastic.

Thinking about it, I think the best analog for CBS News is the Metaverse: A weird money pit of an idea that probably sounded really cool to one person with a lot of money that absolutely had no market anywhere and burned through billions of dollars for no reason.
The thing that needs to be understood is that Bari Weiss's only real talent is in telling powerful people in media what they want to hear, which usually means regurgitating their own ideas back to them. Weiss wasn't hired to destroy CBS news. She was hired to make it mega successful.

I don't know what you're supposed to do with people who will say: "Yes, this person clearly lied about what was written in plain English in a public letter, but also: the vibes are bad, so maybe the lie wasn't actually a lie" and think that they've said something profound rather than idiotic.
Just got a "So, do you ALSO not really feel like working now?" message in slack from one of my coworkers whose position is getting eliminated, and that's probably not a problem that's going to get better in the roughly 3 months they want all of us who got axed to keep working.

I've now been informed that neither of my immediate bosses, neither of THEIR bosses, nor my two primary project leads had any idea I(or the others on my team who got hit) was/were being laid off before I asked how they wanted me to handle transitioning my projects in our team Slack. So that's neat.

One of my bosses just scheduled an unanounced short meeting with me that includes absolutely no information about what we'll be discussing, so I'm wondering if I'm getting fired in a couple hours. Though that could just be the "I joined the workforce in 2008" talking.
I hate that I both understand this and that it's fairly accurate.

My wife has somehow managed to get both my boys hooked on.....Family Matters.
The reality at this point seems pretty clear that if you have a substack, you are HEAVILY financially incentivized to be a shitty person and a liar, and I think that should be the default view of anyone who has one.
Between the lying about the SC stakes and believing that "Codifying Roe" was actually a thing, the degree to which a certain contingent on the left is content to make shit up is wild to me.
BeijingPalmer@beijingpalmer.bsky.social · 4d agoI do not remember anybody 'screaming' this at cis women, because it didn't happen; in fact one of the *repeated* points of the Clinton 2016 campaign was that the supreme court was at stake. Joe Biden's personal views also had exactly nothing to do with Roe being repealed.
Baker Mayfield's play today wore her out, and honestly, i don't blame her.
