The traditional tiered analysis of arguments begins with the necessary conditions for something to count as an argument, then adds further requirements for logical validity, and may impose still further conditions for soundness or for dialectical and rhetorical aims.

Es claro que en la lógica formal no hay sujetos, ni individuales ni sociales, nada sobre su psicología, sus intereses, etc. Pero ¿se debe esto a que hemos abstraído estos aspectos del fenómeno lógico o porque le son externos?

“Our reflexive response to the question of whether human behaviour is the product of nature or culture is typically ‘both’. But when concerned instead with specific human behaviours, that initial pluralism often defers to a naturalistic cause …” J R Miller 2026 academic.oup.com/analysis/art...

Some people think of logical rules as directives one ought to follow, even if one could choose not to – others think of them as constitutive of thought itself and in that sense, metaphysically necessary and neither optional nor enforceable. 🧵

I resist the general tendency of academia to expect feminist analysis from women. It feels like a gendered sphere, separating women from all the other kinds of analysis. Also, documenting one’s disadvantage is a bummer. But if the material is such that a feminist critique is necessary, I'll do it.

Sketchy drawing by me of She-Hulk, text "Don't make me feminist. You wouldn't like me when I'm feminist"

One of the main points of Katherine Angel’s feminist work has been to remind us that emancipation and empowerment are different notions, and to argue that they cannot only diverge at times, but even – and more controversially – be at odds with each other.

I am puzzled at people who think that there are ‘philosophical’ films, i.e., films that touch upon philosophical problems. All issues are philosophical and therefore every film, no matter how shallow or trite, deals with at least one major philosophical problem

When the debate is on whether to “expand our options or limit our options for combatting … injustice” (Colin R. Caret 2025), one must be very careful not to fall into the trap of thinking that the obvious answer is always to expand our options.

If in fact, P then there is no fact that not-P and therefore there is nothing to which the fact P would be related through negation. Therefore, there is also no hierarchy between P and not-P, for there is no not-P – and vice versa.

It would be a mistake to say that negation is a hierarchical relation between beings for it is not a relation at all! What-is-not is not related – by negation – to what-is since what-is-not is not and thus cannot be related neither to being nor to anything else.
