The @ec.europa.eu preliminarily finds TikTok and Meta in breach of transparency obligations under the Digital Services Act. The EC also finds that Meta and TikTok have put in place "burdensome procedures and tools for researchers to request access to public data." ec.europa.eu/commission/p...

Today, 3 members of our core team published a text on the draft delegated act today. They summarise the draft, point out what's good and provide a critique of why it falls short in providing a solid foundation for risk governance by not ensuring reliability & accessibility of non-public data access.

The European Commission is accepting feedback on a draft delegated act under the DSA to govern researcher access to platform data. The draft introduces many commendable ideas, but suffers from a limited conception of empirical research, write Lukas Seiling, Ulrike Klinger, and Jakob Ohme.
